    both have their high points.

    Opera is faster without tweaking
    FireFox has more plugins
    Opera remembers tabs
Firefox is lees of a ram hog
    Opera loads faster

    it goes on...

it's all down to personal preference.

I see that my talking about Opera a LONG ass time ago finally started bringing people to their senses. Alright, well you see, Opera is just a more proffesional feeling web browser and the design is meant to be ALL SAVING just like the Mac systems. If it all turns off, you are safe, just boot back up and your ---- is there. Right-clicking a new tab is amazing compared to the button clicks of the FF browser. I am seeing more and more plugins emerge and the browsers are both fast to boot but after some mods on both I feel that the Opera browser really rocks FF's boat. I have a gaming machine, or two, and have 2 GB of RAM. 15-20 tabs at a time for some of the things I do and it runs fairly smooth. The built-in IRC for the Opera sometimes can mess up causing people to see the RAM hogage, but if you use M-IRC then you don't need to worry about that. Opera also has a much better download window method and built-in torrentint client. It's really up to you what to use but for me, and many other serious surfers, it's Opera, the proffessional way to go. ;)

I should also have ways to make the internet faster on both in my pinned topic and a way for XP Pro users to surf faster no matter. I will look now.

opera has MUCH more efficient memory management (uses less ram, gives ram up when minimized) starts faster, is faster with much more features out of the bax, and the gui is much more responsive, and it has mouse gestures which are great once you get used to them (I know theres an extention for firefox but it sucks compared to opera's) Opera can also be very customizable, you can use userJS and widgets to get some things comparable to firefoxes extentions (I have IEtab and a videodownloader widget) It also has skins like firefox (and you don;t have to restart the browser to apply them)

They are both excellent browsers like stated before. The only real deciding factor is which one you like best, go from there.

I've just started trying Opera out due to this topic.

So far I love the speed and that I can click and drag images to the address bar and it will direct link me to the image itself :D

The only thing I have dislikes for so far is that I don't have a bookmarks toolbar right under my address bar.
Actually I think I just figured out how to do that to :P

    Not sure though.

    But yes, try it out.
    English (US) 4.6 MB
    International 6.3 MB

Those download sizes won't hurt anything.

bttw the scroll smoothness is sexa

Opera has a faster css rendering engine, a big advantage while loading forums!

I find opera to be quite faster than firefox.

i use ff because iv'e got the shortcut keys down and use script and image blockers on it. you'de be surprised hwo usefull a javascript blocker is.

but I do use opera at times, esp on slower systems. FF is a resource hog.

Opera is probably a better browser overall, but Firefox has a bigger support community and Opera hasn't quite got the hang of extensions like FF has. There is a great web developer toolbar extension for FF that is so useful that I could never switch to opera.
