.//XeN- - For someone who couldn't be arsed to fix the colour tags in my quote and fails to come up with an actual arguement --- PS you are hardly in a position to throw insults around, and doing so only lessens the impact any valid points you might actually have. Come back when you have some sense of maturity. The whole gimp joke is old. Been there. Done that. Next please. I seriously hope you didn't think you were being funny or clever with it, or maybe it was one of those jokes intentionally bad to the point it was meant to be funny? Whatever. As for the artist things I've seen many tragic PS graphics. Shall I label the program as tragic because of it? You've seen a few bad pieces and have made your assumption based on that. Funnily enough, I'm not convinced. Trax - I'm well aware that there are "ways" to get it free. Said ways are also illegal and run risks of virus/spyware/adware infection if you're unlucky. The whole thing is not worth it for a mere hobby, and if anyone is doing it in a ----- manner then they'll have the resources to purchase it anyway (or should at least).
I didn't fix the colour tags because it's hard to read WHEN YOU USE A COLOUR THAT'S ALMOST THE SAME AS THE FORUM SKIN YOU DUMBASS. I am in the perfect position to throw around insults, although before this posts I havn't made many. Towards you anyway. And oh, so original with the gimp joke. I wasn't trying to be funny or original, I was making a statement. I know lots of people who used GIMP and were... okay artists, but once they got PS their skills grew massively. So please, you stfu before you know what you're talking about.
You're disregarding the possibility of their own skill naturally increasing over time. I'm not convinced by this but at the same time the statement itself cannot exactly be disproved because it is reliant heavily on opinion. Perhaps it is simply a matter of PS being easier to use (something I don't know about having not used PS). Ease of use is nice but not reflective of a program's capabilities. Now, I'm willing to accept the possibility of PS being better than GIMP, but only when a number of valid points are presented and suitably backed up. I'm not talking about "well, I saw this and that". That tells me nothing. If you want to proclaim PS as better in your opinion then fair enough, you are entitled to an opinion. Just be sure to acknowledge that some people will have differing opinions and that, try to express an opinion as fact and it will be challenged.
PS has more options etc. Gimp is pretty limited imo Insanity Prevails please change your color, it's hurting my eyes.
imo ps is better but i started out as a gimper. i got to like it after awhile and made some nice sigs here are a few. now they arent pro or anything but if you get used to gimp and learn it well enough. you can get some nice results
photoshop... i've had people tell me that gimp was the best.. i downloaded it.. it was like a cheapened version of photoshop
Like most people said, if you get enough cash for PS then get it hands down, if not though GIMP will get the job done for ya. I have used GIMP before.
