Straight Edge

It's not a cult. Some might make it like that. Idk, I dont obsess with it, I go with the whole no drugs, sex, alcohol etc but um..
Its something that you, or I at least, make it into what I want. I do the same with religion. I make it my own thing, its not a set of rules that are dictated to you.

I do drugs..but dont drink beer. Also I like pc games. So im gonna make a cult that does drugs, likes pc games, but not beer.

What did you just go read the wikipedia page on it or something? I'm straight edge and proud. I support sXe concerts, and go see the bands as often as I can. But what pisses me off are people who listen to slipknot and justin timberlake and are like 'yeah i dont do drugs im sxe 2!!1'

Thats one of the stupid things ABOUT this thing. It IS LABELING PEOPLE. Your labelling yourself and others as non or skylines whatevers.

I think this is pointless. You can not do drugs, and just be a normal person, you dont have to join a group.

And you dont have to listen to a certain type of music.
Thats the gayest part right there, you have to listen to a certain type of music to be in it.

This is kind of like being emo..hah

 

Thats why I form it to be whatever I want.
I dont do drugs, alcohol, and the whole pointless sex type of thing.
So I'm sXe in that sense.
As for the whole music idea to it, its stupid..
And I'm not really joining any groups.. I go with whoever I want.. It's not like I join sXe gangs.

sXe are cool. alot of people try to agrue that straight edge kids are boring and dont live much but really its the opposite. i think that most straight edge kids try to live it to the fullest so they dont get involed with drinking or doing drugs to stay healthy and to live for a way. most of the sXe kids i know go to alot of concerts so you cant say that they dont have fun because everyone has a different way of having fun or expressing themselves.

 

Obvousley you diddnt read the first post nucca.. Straight edge is a self label that formed in the hardcore punk genre of music. The entire thing is about music. What I meant by people calling themselves sXe and not living up to it. They haven't done drugs or drank YET but they wouldnt hold back if they were offered. It's not a group or cult like you insist on calling it. Its a self label that you give yourself when your resistant towards drugs, alcohol, and promiscuous behavior. It stemmed from being punk. I suppose anybody can be straight edge no matter what genre of music you listen to, but it is about the music. You can't just be somebody who doesn't do drugs or is abstinent and call yourself straight edge. So how about next time before you start calling people idiots, you get your facts straight?

 

It is labeling people, and it is labeling yourself. You may not think that, but ultimately, you do. It may be about music, but it is actually just using your brain. Having intelligence, and knowing that drugs and alcohol and premarital sex is bad is what you learn in school all the time.

It is a lifestyle, and let me add, its a good one to live by, but it really isn't about labelling people or yourself as straightedge, its about living with morality, and being satisfied by your choices.

So deep down, being straighedge isn't really a group. Its just having some intelligence, knowing how to make the right choice, and listening to a certain type of music. Nothing more, so don't fight over it. Thanks.

except the music part. Maybe the whole "RULES OF STRAIGHT-EDGE" says you have to, but I listen to what I want. I label MYSELF as sXe just to make it know that I dont do those main few things. not the whole music part.
