virtualdub is the most powerful of the 3 the other 2 are basically just splitters and joiners but vdub is a bit more complex to use. It just depends how much editing of the video you need to do. what type of video are you working with? I would recommend trying vdub 1st also VirtualDubMod also there all free so nothing to lose

I will give a try .. And not really making a video, just cut out some parts of the movie .. Like cut in half or maybe add some text on it ...

    - Thx for the suggestion ;)

I use final cut pro as well and yes it is only for mac, I have heard of Sony Vegas as a good video editing program for PC if that is the kind of thing you are looking for.

    I agree with johndapunk FTW.

I've used Adobe Premiere Pro 9.0 and several other programs but for the average user Windows Movie Maker is the best. You are able to split video, add your own music, add text, add effects (mosaic, slow-mo, 2tone, sepia, ect.), you can narrate your video and more.

Obviously Premiere Pro is more powerful and has more features but most of these features the average user wouldn't use.
