No, dont close registrations.. That would just be bad..

But the suggestion about registering before getting into the forums is a very good idea!

I have used Opera most of my time here at GR, but its really slow.. Firefox didnt manage to connect at all sometimes, but IE is actually not so slow!

    OMFG! 'Too many connections' O_O

Would help indeed, and it'd stop people leaching of some of the renders aswell so they'd have to register to view them etc ^_^

I will bring up the idea of forcing people to register in order to view certain aspects of the forums.

However we will not be closing registration.

Yea, closing registration is just stupid.
    Forcing registration is good.
    lets see what else...
make a super donator account, in which you pay 100 bucks ?

    heh...ok fine we'd have like 1 person do that...maybe..

GR gets alot of hits from tutorial sties. If you force guests to register you'll just be losing members. Most people wont register just to view a tutorial.

GR isn't known for tutorials. It's known for renders. And if we have SO MANY MEMBERS now that the whole site freezes, it won't matter if some people from GT are too lazy to register to see a tutorial.

What's more important, the awsome GR members, or a bunch of leechers.

If its the server why not make another membership thats higher then 25 dollars to get some more donations. Dont think you'd do that but it would be a idea to consider.

I don't think forcing people to register before reading the forum helps ... it's actually bad for the forum

my suggestion is ... having a seperate server for the Premium/Donator members

I am on a HUGH forum that does this ... this will encourage members to upgrade their membership and at the same time, people who upgraded will enjoy faster smoother surfing

I am not sure how this is done technically but members who signed-up gets on a sub domain which reads from the same SQL database I believe.

Will start a thread on this ...
