Gamerender: Too Many Connections!

For the past month or 2, I've been experiencing slow connection, multi posting due to lag, and connection errors. For the most part, this is due to the many many people who visit Gamerenders, which is something we should be proud of. However, its becoming more and more nerve wracking when you find yourself with these errors with "too many connections" more than 10 times every hour. I think we should start something where it is REQUIRED to register before you are allowed to enter the Gamerenders forum. There are usually almost 100-200 unregistered visitors on avg. at most times. I think this will encourage enthusiasts to join our community and discourage scammers, stalkers, nobodys, and who knows what else... It is just a suggestion as I am fed up with the slow-ness of our forum. I know how tough it is to support and pay for it and I respect that. What I am suggesting is a method that doesn't require us to spend more money to get a new server, etc. Maybe it will work, maybe not. What do you guys think?

i agree. it alway feels like the slowness is increasing every week for me and its horrible on weekend. I personally like the idea of making it so you have to join the site to see the forums, it would probably also make the site fast since then we wont have a 100 visitors every second

Yes, there needs to be a pre-registering page before they ever get to the forums, IMO. That would stop random guests eating up the slots. (Heh, had to wait about 10 minutes to reply to this.)

i agree too, gr is preety slow, and takes sometimes like 2 mins to open a link.

I think they should close registrations.
We already have 55,000+ members.

Or atleast make people register no matter what like some sites.

This way lag can go down.(took me 10 seconds to load this up, because I have a very very fast connection)

 

Closing registrations won't happen, that will just lead GR to die.

 

I totally agree.. I think guests should have to register before getting onto Gamerenders. But here is another solution... (I've seen other forums where there are even more members online with no problem than here) Gamerenders should purchase more bandwidth and then there wouldn't be the lag that there is now. That's part of the problem... not enough bandwidth. :unsure:
