Everyone that is saying don't spend that much buy one now and buy one in a few years, that isn't an option. Its my Uncle buying me a graduation present. And he said he wants me to have the best available, and told me to pick something $3,500 or less. So I am going to try to get the best I can for $3,500 or less. Right now I am leaning towards MACs. The more I read about them, the more I like. I don't use my PC for very heavy gaming anymore because I bought an Xbox 360. Plus Mac's can run games if I do want to have some. Is this a good video card? ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 with 256MB GDDR3 memory That is what comes with the Mac I am looking at. Could I play games with good settings on it?
tell him you would rather have the diference put to full use in tuition. Trust me college adds up. And the most expensive isn't really the ebst since it uses battery life mroe quickly. if you want the best available for a laptop though, look into a system with a 2.33GHz Core 2 Duo, 2GB of RAM, and a GeForce 7900GO. don't expect ti to last long bettery life wise(underclocking the graphics card when you are't using it might help a fair bit though.)
umm really just look around, alienware make sa decent product, btu it isn't like they are an end-all solution... if you insist on alienware http://www.alienware.com/configurator_page...ode=SKU-DEFAULT get that, go to 2gb RAM, a 2.13GHz core 2 duo, 2 years warranty, 200GB drives RAIDed, extra battery should leave you with a few hundred left over for shipping and tax. Also DO NOT buy ANY software form them buy it yourself
GET MACBOOK PRO its a very good APPLE/MAC laptop, and if you wanna play games get boot camp, you can run your XP on a seperate partition, & still play your GAMES...
Don't buy an alienware they are crap for the ammount of money you pay for. My custom comp was 1,200 and is 5 times better then alienware
explain to me where you can find a custom power supply for a laptop, a special motherbaord, a special case, a special monitor? last time I checked it's abotu impossible. I build all my systems as well but I would never f' with laptops... person recomending the macbok had a decent idea though, OSX is a very nice to to mess with, if he can get a good price...
Alienware is not crap. Correct your statement before giving people the wrong impression that they will pass on. It is a terrible bang/$. Also, I wouldn't feel too proud about your "custom computer", nearly everyone in the Computing forum (even the Gamerender's community) has a custom computer.
i don't think everyone... maybe half... maybe probably closer to 10% overall; 50% regulars... take AKW for example...
