Is it just for extra space or are you transfering everything so its your new master drive?

make sure the computer is plugged out of the wall

    1. Set the jumper on the back of the hard drive to "master." This can be found on the back of the hard drive. Most hard drives have the jumper settings printed on the drive check the sticker on the drive to make sure you place the jumper correctly.
    2. Mount the hard drive in a 3.5 inch bay.
    3. Hook up the end of the wide data cable with the red band (pin 1) facing to the right - as if you are the computer looking forward (red band towards the power supply connection).
    4. Hook up a power cable to the right of the data cable. It only goes in one way.
    5. Put the cover on the case.
    6. Boot up your computer.

set drive to cable select if in doubt setting ti to master can cause some issues if you anr'e putting it in the proper area on the ribbon or on the propper SATA ribbon(I never set anything but cable select, I trransfer drives between systems a lto and can't be ----ed to do otherwise)

    screw drive into computer

conect molex power connector(or SATA power connector)

    connect eIDE ribbon(or SATA cable)

    done...

if you need to format it for use, try using a linux disc to get to a partition program and just partition it there. If installing windows, just go throughthat.

Also, I advise you to make multiple partitions on startup.if you have a 200GB drive alot 20GB for windows(NTFS) 100GB(FAT32) for misc and 80GB for reserve/linux/whatever/second windows install give ro take as needed...
then set the program files directory and my documents to the large FAT partition and you are set.
