I'm noticing lately that a lot of C4D renders are posted as .jpg files or something. Just not as .png so with a black background. I see comments to that posts like: "Good job, thanks!" etc.

Is this normal? If so can someone tell me how to properly use C4D's with black backgrounds?

    Thanks!

posted at .jpg files? hmm. could I see an example? i don't think you're supposed to post a c4d with .jpg....

Oh wait! Sorry, I remember. Yes they do come with a black background! But it doesn't affect the sig if its put and a few blends. The blends that it doesn't effect are:

    lighten
    screen
    colordodge
    lineardodge

These blends will affect your sig BECAUSE of the black background:

    overlay
    softlight
    luminosity
and well almost every other blend

Just keep experimenting with it bud.
if you have any more trouble feel free to post here or PM me. I almost always work with c4ds! Well, I stopped doing it as much but I still do work with them

Yeah, you're supposed to use them like you use stock images or textures and just place them on a different blend mode and erase where necessary, etc.

you can't post c4d's as png, the are on alpha channels unless they open up photoshop and do all the work for you.

Also you can [CTRL+SHIFT+U] to make the C4D black and white, so it can blend better.

If you set it to screen, color dodge, or linear dodge it gets rid of the black background, kinda like if you ever do a lens flare you have to put it on a black background then you just set it to screen.
