Please only reply if you are able to help with my question, not criticise it. This is my choice of music, if you don't accept it I respect that.

I used to be really into old school music, such as 2Pac, biggie, Sugarhill Gang, Public Enemy, etc. (back in late 80's and early 90's). That's because I wasn't a fan of the new age club music. Although I have been following Kanye West since he has came out on the scene and he is my favorite artist right now. Also I've been following Lupe Fiasco since his mixtape days and I really like his as well.
I like to call this genre of hip hop "Revolutionary Hip-Hop" because it's a lot different than other mainstream music.
Groups like G.O.O.D. ( Getting Out Our Dreams - http://www.gettingoutourdreams.com/ ) Which was founded by Kanye West and includes artists such as Common, John Legend, Consequence, Sa-Ra, Crisis, and Mr. Bently. Also I heard about another group called "The Revolution" but havent found anything on them.
So if anyone has any music such as that list some artists and favorite songs from them, new or old.

But not all mainstream rap is bad its the ones that try to use gimmicks to get ahead and once that gimmick goes so does the artist......

Well, I could careless wether or not someone was shot 9 times. I listen to the lyrics and if I don't like that then I don't like the song, I don't care about the beat, sure I'll dance to them but I'm not going to stand there saying this songs good and all.

Im a hip hop head too, i listen to alot of old school mainstream ( 2pac ect ) I dont really follow that club hit bull shizit though i listen to it at times.

I feed into alot of mixtapes, eg the beefs between Eminem and Benzino, Eminem, 50 and ja rule and the beef between game and 50, because its good for freestyles.

The only real mainstream artist i follow is Game, liek his stuff, though hes an ego.

Also being an aussie i have an ear to the ground for the local down under tallents such as bliss n eso, weaponx and ken hell, figg kidd, j wess, hill top hoods and scribe.

Other underground/ less mainstream stuff i listen too are
Jedi mind tricks ( wrath of angels is on right now )
Immortal Technique ( the truth behind the lies, dope rapper )
Fort minor ( before his big realease )
theres a few more not a big underground U.S fan coz its all about getting signed and being thug.
