I'm looking for some requests....My dad's ouse has PS on it but is incredibly slow...lets just leave it at Windows 97 was the latest when the computer was made.... I was wondering what was best for these specific needs:

    - I download and have LOTS of Music Videos / Live videos

    - I keep LOTS of Graphics on there such as Tuts/Renders/Stocks/Etc.

    - I have LOTS of CD's that i want to put on there and will most likely put on iTunes and what-not.

    - I like to watch online videos and have a fast connection...mostly the ISP, i know...

    All help is appreciated!!!

Price Range? If it's just a thing you need at your dad's house, probably something like:
    Athlon X2 3800+ ($150)
    Socket AM-2 Motherboard ($80-100)
    1GB DDR2-800 (or DDR2-667) (probably $115-$130)
    x850XT ($95ish after MIR)
    Seagate Barracuda 320GB (around $95)
    NEC CD/DVD R-RW ($30)
    Cooler Master Centurion Case ($40ish)
    Antec Smartpower 500W ($65ish)

Monitor too? Or any other periphals?

you just need it for general use and want to cut every $ possible right? upgradeability isn't a HUGE issues either right?

if so this is what I suggest

    Pentium D 805
cheapo motherboard w/ int GFX(newegg took the baord i was recomending out of stock damnit)
cheapest 1gb ram kit you can find
    epower 450W puma PSU

    more ro less

should run office, browse the net play CDs etc. fairly well, shouldn't have any issues with it. INT GFX so no need for a GFX card.
if you plan on gaming on it, go with johns suggestion as it is what i would suggest.

FYI, I find most people pull their monitors closer to them when they have flat panel monitors, the flat thing is only for ego, unless you move the monitor around A LOT.

    I dunno, do you?
Well john is right on two accounts...the barracuda should be more than enough storeage for you, and since it has PRM tech in it you should be fine.

X850XT like john said would be the best bang for you buck, and should play most games on a reasonable level as well.

Honestly though, waiting an extra few months might be in your best interest, by then the G80 and R600 will be out and DX 10 will be on it's way to becoming the norm for graphics cards.

it will likely take 6-12 months for DX10 to be fully utilized, if you're getting a mid/mid-highend card it's adviseable to wait if possible but the x850 will suffice for atleast a moderate amount of time.
