my budget was 700 bucks and obviously im way over so can anybody plz help me choose what to down-grade btw, i dont do any gaming..just lots of gfx work, tons of music, and basic internet browsing Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16819115005 183 IGABYTE GA-965P-DS3 Socket T (LGA 775) Intel P965 Express ATX Intel Motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16813128012 150 SILVERSTONE SST-ST50EF ATX12V 500W Power Supply http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16817256001 88 Patriot 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820220095 180 NEC Black 16X DVD/CD http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16827152058 30 SAPPHIRE 100106L Radeon X850XT http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16814102688 120 Seagate Barracuda 250GB Hard Drive http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16822148144 80 and thats not including shipping, and anything thing else i would need
hmm .. No gaming? The CPU chosen is expensive but ... theres a mixup ... ... how will a AMDX2 core[Pin939] fit in a LGA775 Skt motherboard which is for a Intel CPU - lol AMD or Intel - You need to sort that out - Because atm you have chosen a Intel motherboard [DS3] with a AMD CPU But anyways 1GB RAM enough to run CS2 , and GFX/Modelling programs unless you do V.Large Pieces - And 512mb enough to run music so 1GB will be plenty Well you wont find out till you either change mobo or CPU to match the memory with - Intel or AMD You can downgrade the 500W PSU - Expensive PSU instead you can get this one - 430W cheap $39.99 - -$70 [950-70=$880] http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16817153023 OR http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16817103937 for 69.99 - Still 500W and quality Antec PSU - You dont want a alot of juice to go to waste you usually need more if you got like powerful cards ie 7900GT or X1900XTs - -$40 [950-40=$910] hmm but the rest of the parts seems alright just that mix up with the motherboard/CPU which will determine the price/type of the memory Plus you got a case and a CPU Fan/Heatsink? - DarkStar
hey DS... umm, I bought mine for $660, I'm on it atm, so here's my list: the mobo was a open-box deal, it might not be available, just get this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16813131022 Zipzoom has free shipping on all their products, so the case was cheaper than on newegg with the shipping.
so what do you guys think, intel or amd everything ive looked at says amd is better i switched the power supply, and i need to pick out a new processor and motherboard, any ideas?
well core 2 duo is obviously the way to go now, I mean AMD has nothing that can touch it. Just go on the low end of things with the e6300 and you should be fine. Also the DS3 is a great mobo, if you have enough money that would be the mobo to get IMO. Unless you can find a cheaper one by asus or some other solid board maker. Well 2 GB or ram seems to be the way to go now, I personally only have 1 GB and it works just fine for me....and I use photoshop alot.
i usually multi task like crazy lol, and i get the dumb pop up "windows virtual memory low" and then my photoshop starts freezing blah can u give me a link to the mobo and core 2 duo?
ehh... i wouldn't really downgrade to that PSU thermaltake doesn't make that good of PSUs... they're acceptable but there is better stuff out there. i'd suggest this http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?p=PS-E5150G...ea9cc771c8ad72# 420Amps on the 12V rails alone leaves plenty of room for upgrades, should power a single highend CPU and GFX card no problem, or a single CPU and two midend GFX cards. it's the same PSU as the Silverstone ST50EF just without the silverstone eemblem on it and 30 bucks knocked off the pricetag. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16817256001 as for the GFX card. if you don't do any gaming whatsoever, drop down to something lower... also, you're forgetting it does have a 20$ mail in rebate...
Ehh, with your budget, you're gonna need to go with 1GB RAM, or go with the Althon X2 3800+. The Core 2 Duo E'6300 is a cheap processors, but it's the motherboard that really kills you. Try for a Seagate Barracuda with PRM technology in the same price range as that WD you have picked. The Power supply you have chosen is crap. It'll need to be at least $65 to be quality. I'll let some one else choose one out. The x850XT is a good choice. I'm tierd of making builds atm, I'll try something out later.. Merged Post: typo? 420 amps... 1amp is enough to kill some one
i really like the 2gb ram, any other brands that are cheaper? but still good also, what about like tubing, or cable sleeves where can i find them well i think ill get the Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 it saved me 60 bucks and is better? now all i need is a motherboard
Well you might think about saveing yourself an extra $30 and go with the e6300. Like john said it is not the cost of the core 2 duo that gets you, it is the cost of getting a decent compadable mobo. ehh you will just need to get a PSU with modular cableling, installing a sleaving kit can be a pain in the ass to do. As for the HDD here is a link to a seagate that is also 250GB but it has PRM tech in it which the WD does not. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16822148144 For the grapics card I would have said go with the x800GTO as you are not going to be gameing, but honestly spending the extra 10-20 bucks to get the x850xt is worth it. (just in case) I am just going to let xelink or john take care of linking you to the PSU, as they know a whole lot more than I do about it.

420W happy... heh 420amps through the 12V wails would be nice though... small pwerplant on that... as for the 6400 vs. the 6600.. 6600 has a conroe core and has 4mb l2 cache. it is the lowest conroe core. 6400 has an allendale core and 2mb l2 cache it is the highest binned allendale. what that translates to is relatively simple, the 6400 will probably be able to run at the same speed with less voltage. the lack of l2 cache doesn't really affect performance much and is nullified to a point by the higher FSB required to reach the same ferquency. considering the 6400 costs about 100$ less has nearly identical performance if you plan on OCing the two (with a good board)and can run with less voltage(hence longer lifespan) i'd get it unless you're like hardcore into getting good superpi scores... I have my e6400 at 3.066GHz on 1.325V(lowest my motherboard goes) and it can probably go higher but my baord is holding me back. on the GFX card, after rebate the x850XT is 7$ more than the x800GTO it's the best buy at this moment. if you really aren't going to be gasming at all though nearly anything will do, but why not spend the extra few $ and have the option open. if you really want to cut $ though http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16814127204 it is about 1/5th the card(in terms of performance) of the x850XT though. can't really cut on ram... as far as I knwo, tis' the cheapest 2gb kit newegg stocks... kinda sad... DAMNIT GLOBAL MEMORY SHORTAGE. I was going to suggest buying a single stick and then buying an identical stick later but it's more expensive for lower quality stuff that way... WTF... really surprised though, this ram is pretty damn good, very compareable to the more expensive stuff at fewer$$$ my advice is to check multiple etailers, cut corners EVERYWHERE.
mk so i changed sum stuff around and now its like 831? or so is it a good setup? is it all compatable how about either of these for video cards whats the best video card in the 50$ - 100$ price range http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16814102669 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16814102640
