I have an above average knowledge of computers but not much about building them, but I have installed a soundcard ^_^ Im making this topic because my friends dad builds custom comps for a side job and he is going to build me one. I already have a case and my mom wont let me spend more then 700 on parts  So if anybody can tell me the best I can get for my buck on computer parts it would help ALOT my current comp is a compaq..everything is stock besides the soundcard Intel Celeron 2.93 GHz, 504 MB of RAM haha
You don\'t even need your friend\'s dad; trust me. It\'s really easy, you just screw the motherboard in the any way it can fit, you slide the hard drives and cd/dvd drives in the only logical way, and you plug the cords into the only ports they can fit into. Lemme get back to you with links, but here is an outline to what you could get. Core 2 Duo E\'6300 ($185) Asus Motherboard (P965 Northbridge) ($150ish) Patriot 2x 1GB DDR2-667 ($170-$180) x800GTO ($90) 200GB-320GB Seagate Barracuda with PRM technology ($78) NEC CD/DVD R-RW ($30) something like that. would still need a PSU
Yeah, what John said. But you need a decent PSU. The x800gto is a great gfx card, just make sure you get a 500-550 watt reliable PSU. And take out all your old ram, and put it in the new one aswell. Which will be 2.5 gigs.
x850XT for 10$ more is a better buy... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16814102688 -------s rose the price on the thing 7$... used to be 95$

that patriot LLK is good ram. I'm nto sure if it's the best buy at the given cost now though. I got mien for 160 after mail in rebate. the rebate is no longer applicable. I honestly wouldn't knwo what the 'BEST' buy is now though. It IS very good ram though, excellent overclocker, it's not micron d9, but it has good elpida ICs.
