    Hello all,
A few days ago I received a package from the post. I opened it up and it contained all my stuff I ordered. 45mins later I installed everything, cpu into the motherboard. Mounted the stupid intel box cooler, it really took me some time. Put the HDDS in the case, installed fans, etc. Booted up fine. Everything was fine, so I installed windows, after that installed the basic things, firefox, antivirus, firewall and sort. Well I was a few hours busy with it so I was hungry. I turned the pc off and went to the kitchen. A few seconds later I smelled something wierd. BURNED Plastic. I quickly went back and I saw smoke coming out of my psu. Quickly turned it off...

Okay, I was really suprised of that. I disconnected every cable and took the psu apart. I put the power cable in it and nothing happend. Switched the button on and after a few seconds I saw something red hot lighting.. switched it off agian. The psu is completely borked. I was really worried about if it damaged the rest of my pc, so a friend of mine lend his psu to mine and the first time it booted it gave 1 long beep and 9 short, looked in the manual. It said bios error. Took out the bios battery, waited and rebooten. 1 short beep = everything was fine again...

A long and wierd story. ^^ Im very happy everything is still working. I'm RMAing my psu and I hope to receive a new one soon. It was a Thermaltake Toughpower 600W with 4 v12rails; each 18A.

    Anyway, my cellphone is also borked so I cant take pictures now. Here's a SPI 1m run, slighty overclocked to 2.4 and no tweaks;

A 6400; huh? Well some of you might have seen a thread asking support on what parts I should take. When I was about to order that, my parents didn't wanted to paid 1/2. So I had to pay it all myself. That's why I've chosen other parts. I'll be working every saturday, in order to get more money for parts :)

    Specs so far:
    -C2D E6400.
    -Gigabyte GA-965P-DS4. Click
-Single gig of dual channel ram ddr2.
-Crappy videocard, will be getting a better one ASAP.
    -Aspire x-plorer case.Click
-Toughpower 600w, which is borked now..Click
    - 4x 80mm fans, 2 front, 1 top, 1 side. 1 120mm fan exhaust.
    - And a hp w19 widescreen lcd monitor.

Will get a few pica's soon. I have a schooltrip next week so I won't be here much

Well, I think it's just a one faulty product from TT, I'll hope I get a new one or my money pack.

Also noticed the high temps which everest says' idl 42 C... I just cant believe that. Also the ram things. I know they are 4-4-4-12 @ 333mhz but they'r set on auto time and I had to do manually CL3, haven't touched the rest so i'm sure I can lower it. I got corsair twinx pc2 5400 c4

Yes, but thats your winchester... mine is supposted to stay <35..
Anyway, I increased the timings from 3-5-5-14 to 3-3-3-12 but my score didn't really increase.. 24.438. Should the last one, be higher or lower? Whats better? ie; 3-3-3-10 or 3-3-3-15 or 14 ?

Also Easytune5 says my CPU is 27C, which would be more realistic, but if I compare it to everest, its like the CPU temperature on Easytune5 is the same as the motherboard temperature on everest.

Touch the processor and you can kind of guesstamate it. Or go get like a themometer or something :P

Or, better yet, use Speedfan for your temps. Everest is known for being inaccurate.

Good buy on the mobo, with the correct RAM, it's a really nice board/overclock (specially corsair xms)

I got XMS2 :) And speedfan does the same; temp1 is like CPU on gigabyte tool, and motherboard on everest...

the placement of the temp probe is now on the hottest part of the CPU, so dont' be surprised that ti seems a little hot

you have a midend kit, which is running at moderate voltage and isn't higherly overclocked.

and yes, typically the top teir PSUs are pricey. you ever look at the price tags on PCP&C, etasis and emac/zippy? fragging expensive. my enermax liberty was liek 80$ and it only has 30 amps combined total on it's 12V rails(two), it's a great OCing PSU though since voltage fluctuation is VERY minimal.

and you dont' always have to spend a fortune, some forton and enhance PSUs are fairly good and are reasonably priced.

FYI on a grading scale my enermax liberty would be liek B+ quality, as would the PSU devestation had. yours would be liek a C- or a D. the antec TPII which I recomend is around a B. again the As and A+ just cost too much.

and also read the last line of what you put once again
a lot of the stuff I recomend I have owned, I've owned somethign similar to, or I plan to own at once point. I have not said anything against you personally in the past and I'm nto about to but seriosuly, RELAX... it is the internet. how do you know I'm not some fat 200lb looser who has no friends and is either unknown or is hated by people in general? you don't, and for all you know I could be. I mean if you're really that much better than me you'de keep it to yourself.

    Hmm I wouldn't expect b quality from a 100euro PSU which had 4xv12;18= 72 amps MAX v12 rail... I'll probably get a enermax 500w something modulair.

What ram ya exacly have compkid ?

Yeah thermaltake psus are horrible. Enermax is a good brand they are pretty much the same company as OCZ and tagan.

Computer Kid Kingston ram is horrible.

    k i mistated something...

when i say high performance, i kinda meant that it is being run at high performance.

if I run some of that G. SKill HZ with micron d9XXX ICs at 100mhz and undervolt them while running them with loose timings

and kingston isn't really that high performance, I believe they typically use CE5 or BGA and perhaps infineon for their ICs (which means crap). Kingston normally sells ram to OEMs for some of the OEMS "high end" systems.
