Buy conroe/core 2 duo, and buy it fast...when vista comes out, core 2 duo will become an overnight standard, and prices will skyrocket. also, a low-end conroe (200 USD) has about the same processing power of a high-end AMD chip

and ati cf has that ugly dongle out the back...eww....

Prices will not go up overnight on the day of release. Conroe is not the only processor that supports Vista. The cheapest Conroe is $185, but $200 is not far off.

That ugly dongle? Double you tee eff?

umm no... computer parts always get CHEAPER on the whole not mroe expensive.

one month ago C2ds cost about 100-200$ more.

by the time vista si out, intel will have launched quad core rpocessors.

Yesh parts go cheaper because new parts gets involved in the cycle :)

But anyways gota finalise the parts before I order em - Might choose the ASUS P5W-Deluxe - Has OCing potential - I wont be OCIng a great deal as I dont know how atm but someone can easily help me later fr the board - I might do a little until i get use to the settings

Im seeing awesome reviews for that board except for the main problem which is that some boards need BIOS update but thats not a problem as ASUS released a boot image disk with the update in :)

Also next problem is the PSU - Some ive seen the board is fried coz of PSU and other things like PSU puffing out smoke so what PSU are decent? Would my Antec TP 550W work? OR do i have to get some special one :D

The reason why I chose the DS4 was because of the heatpipe cooling, the second x16 slot and ofcourse its sexy  Isn't it xelink

Also xelink. I'm not even on the latest bios, but the fsb is up to 600 in bios. I don't really care about overclock, it's getting hot enough (according to everest, and it seems to true) 40C idle and +55c stressed. I'll buy a better cooler after I get a better gfx card... this cpu is owning the 5750 gfx card, while the cpu wasn't made for rendering
