No not really - Well it does need to be a little more detailed than that - I am not like a noob at parts so that would be quite low on detail :D - I have been searching on google since I made this thread - And counting every single post made

Ye i guess theres a little 'fanboyism' its just that ive used ASUS/Nvidia all the time and its really stable atm - Atm Radeon is in my choice and Intel Core Duo im thinking about it - Im not made of money so have to keep limits

Also the parts u get from newegg isnt readily available in the UK is where the difference comes

Offtopic; what are your temps xelink?

Back on your thread Darkstar; as others said. Core 2 Duo is the best option for now. I dont know what amd will release when you want to buy your parts. It would be better to ask it, on that time, when you are buying them. You said you would buy it mid- octoberish, its januari now and october is 9 months away. In 9 months alot of things can change.

I'm RMAing something because of an accident with cable routing which occuredoccured.

prior to the accident temps were in their high 20s low 30s with the scythe inifnity on idle and 40 somethign under load I beleive. may be wrong haven't used the CPU and HSF in like a week... should be back up this time next week though...

I have a concave IHS though, so temsp could be lower.(the edges on the chips IHS are higher than the center where the core is by a VERY small amount, since then i took a siccors and "fixed it" while keeping the lettering in the center untouched(you need the stuff in the middle so you can use the waranty from intel))

and yeh, since you ARE waiting a little just wait long enough for G80, if it is going to be out.

Ok as i havent used intel procs before - Whats a decent motherboard for intel core2duo and its skt? Most stable one anyway

    Suggestions
    Gigabyte GA-965P-DQ6
    http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/Mother...ame=GA-965P-DQ6

    MSI 975X Platinum PowerUp Edition
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mai...ail.php?UID=746

MSI one looks promising for the Core2 - 8GB Mem Size DDR2 - Suports Crossfire too

MSI seems quite good so need to find the board in the UK http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Onl...ue_MSI_204.html - First one

    and this card ...

    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/X1900_Series.html

I can get the GF8Series later on probably next year some time I feel its gona be alot :( so not thinking of waiting for that until when i start upgrading the parts next year same time probably

I got the DS4 myself. Much better then the DS3, I really like the heatpipe and second x16 slot. If you're willing crossfire get a 975x chipset board. Only 975x supports crossfire.

    If you don't; E6300 and e 6400 965p chipset
    and for e6600+ 975x chipset.

Don't get the DQ6. For 965 chipset; Asus P5B deluxe, for 975 chipset; p5w deluxe.

@xelink, if your going gigabyte, get the DS4 ;) Just make sure your ram is compatible. MANY ppl have problems with this board because they have wrong ram. GEIL 800mhz ultra low latencies ram should work fine.

and sorry about the month name :P I installed windows a day ago and didn't had the chance to edit time and date.

Ye that MSI board supports crossfire and "The latest 975X Platinum PowerUp Edition can operate with the full line-up including Core™ 2 Extreme and Core™ 2 Duo"

Thats why I chose it :)

    Thanks bud

LOL @ your PC date

personally I'd advise getting an e6400 it's decently priced, and it is the highest binned allendale. FYI allendales are made seperate from conroes so yeh.

so far people have been saying that week 27s have been doing pretty dang good. I have a week 26, I havee yet to really push it. I'm not really the type to push stuff though. I'm aiming for 2.8GHz on stock voltage.

the first few weeks were so-so. my guesse is that by the time you get yours the manufaturing process will be pretty damn good, and also better motherbaords will be out as well.

and FYI, a lot of peopel are finding that gigabytes DS3s overclocker VERY well. another board to look out for is DFI's RD600 board. supposed to OC VERY well, has 3 PCI-e lanes, supports crossfire and using one GPU for physics. very good overall.

again for the record people are finidng that the DS3s OC better than the DS4s. it's weird, i know especially since the DS4s look sexier and cost more but... ehh...

and the MSI powerup baord OCs moderately well given the 190$ price tag as compared other 190$ boards(the 185$ DFI infinity 975X/G baord is a let down and i can say that myself since i have that one, I'm praying for a better BIOS, just praying for a better BIOS)

for the record conroe/allendale seem to be about as heat resistant and voltage resistant as the pentium Ds were. that's a good thing. I'm a paranoid mofo so I dont' OC to the max... heh.
