Ok so I recently added some new CD's to my computers fast growing music collection and I wanted to add them to my player. I decided I would wipe my player clean of all prior music and readd the new updated library and playlists. Just after I finished I got a message saying I needed to update my firmware and etc. I downloaded all the updates and more and began to install the firmware. Something went wrong in the firmware and now my computer doesn't recognize the player at all so I can't reload the OS and the player is stuck in Rescue Mode. I am using a computer using Windows XP Home Edition and my player is a Jukebox Zen xtra 40GB. Please help me out! This is player is only 1 year old and is very important to me!

Thanks! But I don't think thats my problem. Theres no information for the computer to read from the player. The player is stuck in the stupid rescue mode and has no Operating System. I'll try what you said later. I'' also trying on the creative lab forums, and their support line. Worst case scenario is that I try to see if the warranty is still valid and if its not I have a perfect excuse to get a new player
I don't really know if this will help but my Zen never registers with the PC unless it's fully charged. Took me like an hour to work that out the first time I hooked it up >.<
try the UMS trick it works on all irive but i dunno about others 1-unplug usb from player 2-turn of player 3-take out batter and put back in 4-plug back in 5-turn on and hold the ok or center circle button or whatever 6-a little thing on the bottom of player should say UMS connect 1.45 or something 7-it still might work if thing dosent pop up
Clean up Reformat Reload OS aka Firmware Reboot If I an get it functionin on my computer, as in the pc knows exactly what it is. I should be able to fix it with the newer firmware.
read the manual, if its like mine it tells you how to reset it (from the player) using a sequence of buttons contact the makers of ur mp3 or go on their site nd look at the faq's
