Found this somewhere else... Anyway... Any buddhist here? I'd like to hear what you think of it... The boy meditated for 10 months straight in Nepal with no food, no water, nothing. There were believers there non stop, and journalist from newspapers/magazines like: BBC, GQ, TIME and others were allowed to stay overnight without giving prior info. So they showed up with no invite, and were allowed to stay over night, just to see if he moved or anything.. Apparently, he was bitten twice by venomous snakes. He moved once after 3 months to free a venomous snake from a fence. the snake bit him and he freed it, and went back to his meditation... Buddhist believe he is the reincarnation of Buddha. He vanished after his 10 month meditation saying he would emerge again in 6 years ( supposedly the same thing the original buddha did) and everyone who knew him personally described him as very pure. Never misbehavin as a child, quiet and a loner. Im not buddhist, but the idea of someone being able to go 10 months without eating and drinking is amazing to me. Just curious if anyone knows anything more than wat I read on it. ( im sure there will be tons of doubters, I doubt it myself, but if thats all ur contributing to the thread please dont say anything at all.)
For one thing, Buddhism teaches that starving yourself doesn't help and that it does not Purifie the mind. So I highly doubt it's true.
Buddhists do not do that, it's one of the factors that brought about Buddhism. When the Buddha was spending time on the streets he lived with people who starved themselves etc. to try and get Mental Englightenment and reach Nirvana. He began to realise that personal suffering does not bring englightenment and only concious, deep concentration can help you reach a higher state of meditation and mind.
thats crazy though, im no buddhist either but that thought really gets to u, its probably some experiment The US is holding.
Humans can live for several weeks without food, but only about three days without water. theres no way he survived 10 month without food or water. sounds like a hoax.
Paradise is the limit, so ironically, there is no limit since paradise is considered infinite and all-knowing. And I say Paradise, because: A ) It is the proper term. B ) It reaches out to all religions, no bias. C ) Cause I can. @Rikku He was speaking in Buddhist terms of inner peace, not physical or other religion's-rules-upon-another limitations. Best example is the Matrix for all those who actually grasped it.
