Through all of suffering and hell, there is always someone that looks on the bright side. And on this bright side, there is an end of pure bliss. ~~Chris "Creesco" H. -=/|\=-General Overview-=/|\=- Well the basic idea and concept of this movie is what my quote states. The family that Steve Carrell's character stays with is not the greatest. The family has too much going on by it and can be easily seen as a disfunctional family. And this is a good place for a man who tired to commit sucide? Well as the story goes on you find out a little more why everyone does like being with everyone. The father has some ----ty self help thing, the mother smokes, the grandfather is a coke head, the son is the rebel teen that has taken an oath of silence, and the daughter wants to become a pop queen. -=/|\=-Thoughts-=/|\=- Well to me this movie looked funny because Steve Carrell looks extermly depressed and I was eager to see him act this way. But...it really was a depressing movie. I'm not saying that it is depressing as in terrible and such, just literally depressing. Seeing the family constantly yelling and arguing about stupid ---- made it depressing and sad. As the story goes on though, the mood of the story lightens up and has a great ending. But the idea of it being depressing really bored me and at some points I didn't care. -=/|\=-Review-=/|\=- Pros: Well this movie had a great ending, both comical and happy. The acting was great as well but it could have had Steve act a little more depressed during his misery in one of his scenes. The comedy was good because it fit the characters nicely as well. Cons: The depression in this entire movie. It was so terrible to see everyone suffer and go through a miserable hell. But at the end of the movie Steve's character explains that life is suffering. But some of the characters I didn't like, which was the father. He seemed too much of a pest, and even though the character was a pest, I think it was too much for me. -=/|\=-Score-=/|\=- 7/10
