alright heres the deal. every now and then my modem would disconnect. i have a decent connection, but my modem would suddenly diconnect. i called up my internet provider and got connected with a new modem, the first few days ran smoothly but then it started happening again.

i usually fix this by taking the cable out of the modem and putting it back in. but im hoping theres a way to fix this other than doing that.

i have a wireless d-link router which connects to my modem if that matters

Try to restart the modem, I have to do that sometimes when it stops working.

Well, im on broadband and as you know they allow you to run phone+internet at the same time.

FOR ME i have to use microfilters which firt connect to the main phone line and the other go from that where ever, A while ago it was happening to me, I looked at the wires and noticed the microfilter wasnt connected, i hooked it up and it worked :)

try it, it may not be the same 4 u, but its like that for me. I use a wireless BT1800HG touter where i use wireless and wired :)
