Hello there I need some info and (if possible) benchmarks about the new intel processors Thanks in advance
Core 2 Duo is the best processor for everyday consumers right now. I believe extreme is just a higher variant of the core 2 duo processor line.
Um... look at any benchmark site? http://anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?i=2802 http://xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/core2duo-e6300.html http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/07/14/cor..._out_athlon_64/ http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/intel_...roe_benchmarks/ those are just some. use google.
ok http://www.iamxtreme.net/coolaler/WR/X6800...526_9000S_1.gif other than a scaleable multiplier, it is identical to any other conroe CPU. infact, when mantaining the multiplier, an e6600 at 5GHz will outperform an x6800 at 5 GHz because of the increased system bus speed. the primary advantaqe of C2e is that you can brag about how you wasted money ona CPU with an identical core as compared to one costing half as much.
The only difference bitween the E6600 and the X6800 is the unlocked multiplier. If you're looking for the best bang/buck get the E6400, like me and overclock it , No xelink, you didn't convinced me with the performance gain 4mb vs2mb, i'll explain later
I think Intel fanboys were saying this around 2000 when the Athlon Thunderbird was kicking the PIII hard... THEN LOOK WHAT WE GOT!!! 'blazing fast Pentium 4' which couldn't outperform the chips it replaced(and as we all know is essentially being replaced by an optimized vesion of it's P6 predecessor aka Core) and to devestation... all I said is it is pointless to spend 50% mroe just for a slightly higher multiplier and some more l2 cache. increasing the system bus helps compensate for less l2 cache which is easier to do on the allendales at an acceptable voltage. unless you are going for a world record or are craving bragging rights, it is kind of pointless to shell out the extra $$$ in my opinion.
