A few bias views in this thread, imo.

    Renderers that started it all:
    - Llamaman; he created the first few tutorials on rendering, and also created this website which has become the largest source for renders on the 'net
    - *Blood*(begins with anime renders - then women/cars), JWJ(gaming, women, cars), and rzn(first became popular because of his badass splinter cell renders) - make it popular, and begin 'mass-rendering'(creating/selling/giving out packs of renders they've done) and also create the concept of 'Premium' renders.
    - Renderers like ShneakySquirrel, Kazuya(started with Tekken characters), jesse boi(started rendering Mortal Kombat renders) and a few others keep the tradition alive, and eventually - Kazuya releashes the new 'glow' method of rendering
    - Huy-N, Draven, and a few others become well known for this method and rendering in general. Huy-N has one of the best rendering tutorials, Kazuya has the best single render(and the largest ego), DraveN has given back by creating Render of the week and running it so well, and of course - the 'old school' renderers' all have packs with all their renders which can be found all over GameRenders and other sites.

Many sites became famous for giving out large render packs, most notably ChaosGFX's render pack of around 2,000 renders I believe. The largest, legal render pack(legal meaning all renders owned by myself/or renderers paid for usage) is by GRDelivery at around 1,300 renders. ClanTemplates/SigoftheWeek has the second largest gallery of renders on the 'net, and most organized(all of them hosted and organized into categories).

Interesting fact: 500th render in gallery is added on July 27th, 2004 - roughly 5 months or 100 renders a month after GR is opened.

Personally, i don't think kazuya is the "best single renderer" it was just the one render that gave him his title, i think any half good renderer could have been "worshipped" on the site had they found that picture and had the time (lack of life) to do it.

By "glow" method, i'm assuming you mean extracting, which was originally found by imperial panda which kazuya removed from imperials text rendering tutorial and took credit for by releasing 2 tutorials, one normal and one video.
As for huy-n and draven becoming well known for extraction, i know for a fact draven has kept honest to original techniques of rendering and has not given up to the quick, fast "special effects" rendering. Not sure about Huy-N, i think he has done his fair share of texture rendering, even if he hasn't extracted.

Render of the week was originally created by me before i resigned due to lack of funding among other things, i thank draven for taking over it, and i hope he is getting the proper funding to do so.

Many people have been neglected for their input into the 'render scene.' Without Llama and Dave there would be no GR, so we have to mention them first. We also have to recognise the mods who have kept this place going, because they've done a great job on that.

Anyone who has managed to become a render mod (Shneak, Dan, Kaz, Jay, LA, Apoc, Drav) all deserve to be recognised for their input into this site as well.

As for the 'glow method', its stupid to credit one person in finding it, how about mentioning adobe for having it? Draven and Blrzd don't use it because there seems to be a taboo on it, or 'you're not cool if you use extraction' attitude on GR. It makes life easier and i don't care if someone uses it. I've used it many times but i've done things 'manually' for this site.

ROTW and ROTY were successes that have managed to keep interest in this site and props go to anyone who helped in the organisation of them.

Final words, this site is a resource site that's is meant to help people so you have to credit everyone who has made a render from the forgotten ones in the render section to the most famous ones. If you've spent hours on a render and nobody has used it i reckon you've wasted your time.

    DraveN
    BLzrD

this are the ones i see the most for some reason. I have seen the others who also do great renedering.

My god vote goes to Draven and BlzrD but my attention span is geared towards Draven so far.

    Forgot to add.
Draven is getting close to the "Legend" List, just needs to go a tiny bit longer :]

Either that or my timescale is f***ed :|

I think all the people mentioned are great at rendering. Personally I think my regular render skills are lacking, but my vector skills make up for it I think.

    i agree here also
in every single render i've seen DraveN do, it's been done with the Pen Tool. even in his renders with glows he's just used the Smudge Tool. in all of Huy-N's renders i've only seen him use the Pen Tool or Polygonal Lasso Tool.

btw...it's not hard at all to tell which tool someone used

I never said Kazuya was hands down the best renderer, I said specifically he had done the best single RENDER - as clearly stated, and even quoted.

I also did not say Draven used the glow method, but Huy use to/and if you don't think he did - your dead wrong. Quote: "Huy-N, Draven, and a few others become well known for this method and rendering in general."

and your right about the Render of the Week, Jay - it wasn't Draven's ideas, but it wasn't yours either. Aren't you forgetting the fact that Kazuya had the rendering competition, and the Render of the Week was derived from that?

.HaVoC. - thats the second time I've seen you spam/or post without contributing to the topic, don't do it again.

JWJ was one of my favorites. I learned everything from him and is by far the only person I have talked to that was well known for rendering that hasn't be ----y about it.
This is FTWrath by the way. Me and him originated the double size and feather technique in a tutorial + pack released about a year ago. It seems only a few of us rendered to help rather than for popularity. That's really the reason I stopped. I dont find cutting much of an art, it's to easy and made to look hard. I was doing premiums days after starting. It's way over rated and shouldn't even be considered digital art.
