just partition your harddrive. save all your programs to there, backup your registry as well. to make your second partition the default for program instllations

    1. Navigate to:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
    2. Find ProgramFilesDir whose default should be C:\Program Files
    3. Change this to whatever directory you wish. I changed it to D:\Program Files for example.

Remember you have to reboot for your changes to show.

if you bought from an OEM, they have a recovery partition in most instances, or atleast a a set of recovery CDs...

and if you want to pirate norton ghost, this is the wrong place to do it.

you're talking to someone who averages a new windows installation every 2-6 weeks though so ehh... gets to be a no big deal thing, i mean it's just 1s and 0s...

OK if you want to make an IMAGE of your whole HD

    then you can get DRIVECLONE.

install it and then launch it, you will have to restart your computer as it has to be NOT running windows to make a copy of it.

Then follow all the instructions and make your backups.

It makes the perfect copy and no registry problems or anything else,

If you want to put it on to a new HD u will have to make a bootable floppy disk

all instructions are given when using the program,
