Well, my computer sucks XD so I'm gonna buy a new graphics card so I can do better at gaming since the low FPS is letting me all down. I know the slot for the Graohics Card Slot, but I found it had a "notice" on it, saying it is advisable to use only the ones they have tested. Keeping in mind that my computer is 5 years old, they could be pretty much outated and hard to find and may not be up to date with all the new graphics cards.

Here's a few from the list in the "notice":

You would've noticed that they are all 32m and from alot of posts in this section of the forum, there are alot of which are 256+. Now my question is, should I stick with the list they gave me, or go a bit out and buy the 256+ whether they will work or not?

If your gonna buy the 256+ you should proboly get a new motherboard to handel it. But if your not gonna buy a new motherboard, stick to the list.

A new GFX card wont help, you'll need an entire new computer.

You also failed to post your PC specs, without those it's impossible to know.

If your mobo is listing DX6 cards which are from ~1998, cpu speeds from then barely reached 1GHZ. Even if you were taking a guess i'd put him at 1.4ghz at the most.

if your running at least 512 mb ram with 2.3 ghz processor pent. 3-4 with at least 50mb free disk space and agp slots the nvidia gforce 6800 should set you up to be able to play most games at somewhat of a decent FPS mainly like 60 tops now if you have a pci bus your gonna want to go with the nvidia gforce 7600 gt it's an awesome GC and will boost to a higher fps than the 6800

mainly check these things on your comp and then post them:

    windows version
    RAM
    CPU
and what GC slots you got

    then let's go from there

p.s. if you don't know how or what your specs are look it up in the user manual that came with the PC or go to the pc brand's website and search the specs on it, you should be able to look up the specs by your code on the UPC label on the computer.

you have a 1.2ghz cpu, 512mb ram... a video card may improve the horrid framerates you probably recieve but i dont think it ll do enough to actually make modern games playable. You said your pc is 5 years old, i think its time to look at upgrading most of it, you'll likely need a new mobo / ram / GFX card / PSU. If you're still completely adamant about buying a new GFX card (which would be a bad idea if you choose to upgrade as your new mobo would be PCIe) look for a Geforce 7800GS or an X800XT/GTO

If you don't have the money to upgrade your whole system and just a need a video card to hold you over until you do have the money, then you shouldn't dump a lot of money into an agp card b/c when you upgrade you will (or should) go pci-e. (This is pretty much what Marforce said)

Here are some AGP 4x/8x which is what I assume you have.
    6200:
Bottom of the barrel, but will play most modern game with everything on low settings. Considering your comp is so old you probobly don't want to go any higher b/c your processor/ram will hold you back:
ASUS N6200/TD/128 Geforce 6200 128MB DDR AGP 4X/8X Low Profile Video Card - Retail

    $38.99
    Doom 3 Benchmarks: http://www.tomshardware.com/2005/02/08/nvi...che/page12.html

In all honesty this is the most you should probobly get until you have enough to get a new set up.

New setups don't have to be very expensive if you already have a hd/optical drive/psu/case

You can buy a very decent Processor, Mobo, Ram, Video card under $350
