@Soulbishop Have you donwloaded the cd or dvd? If you've got the cd you should have 5, stick the first one in your computer then restart. It should boot to the cd and then you can follow the instructions from there. If it doesn't boot from cd you have to go into your bios and change the where the computer boots from. Im not too keen on Ubuntu myself, i prefer Suse10.1 over Ubuntu but it's all personal preference.
yes you can...when you boot from the "Desktop CS" (live, etc.) there's an option to isntall from there...i kno by experience on the latest release from the site...6.06 i think...
ok i figured out the problem i had the wrong drive as my boot drive had to move the apti?? something like that to the top but now im running knoppix n i can only get 800*600 display how do i fix that Merged Post: side note the suse install said there was a problem with the disk partitoning im going to try in a few
uh keep pressing escape when ure computer is laoding, that enters bios mode, then select boot from cd rom instead of hard disk
Hi, i was thinking about installing linux on my laptop who's only purpose is to play media...and since i have a 9hr plane journey ahead i want to get the most possible life out of my battery. Would you say that linux would improve my battery life (sorry to take your thread off topic) and is it easy to transfer files from a windows pc? Thanks
^^^ somehow i doubt it would, and from what ive heard, the programs for linux are basicaly merre copies of windows stuff
