dont get a dell laptop just yet
their battries are stuffing and theve started to literally blow up.... it happened on a plane a few days ago
now Dells making over 1 million buyers per month to send their laptops in so the battry can be replaced

i got a Mac book pro and thats pretty good, but if u want to spend under 2K theres a really good ASUS laptop= slim and usefull and cheap

Those certian batteries that could do that where in these specific computers.........

    Latitude™ D410, D505, D510, D600, D610, D800, D810; Inspiron™ 510M, 600M, 6000, 8600, 9200, 9300, XPS Gen 2; and Dell Precision™ M20 and M70 mobile workstations

And were sold quite a while ago.

So if you get a good dell XPS comp now, there isnt anything to worry about.

If you're going to get a gaming laptop, get a custom built one. It only takes a little research to find some good stuff and a local computer store could assemble it for you.

I own an Alienware, it is nice and now mine is custom but that's beside the point. But, I am not sure if you know about AW's customer support.... it really is like not having customer support. I go through the companies that supply them parts, I use their support. But, I havn't had to do that but once and it was my fault for a return on something. So, yeah. I know they are durable and my AW has held up grand! But, the CS is a PITA.

im sorry but if your saying go with alienware and don't expect much out of the XPS cause "cause it's dell" then your a moron, made by the same manufacturer stupid asses I say if you want a damn decent laptop to run games go with the alienware cause dell laptops wont come with the SLI technology and that's the wave of the future for GC until they find how to make just one GC run like two of the best at one given time.

and for you who are wondering what SLI technology is........

SLI is two dual core graphic cards in sync with one another which helps keep core temperature down and also gives higher end refresh rates also with the technology to run any high definition game you could think imaginable with no lag. it's like in terms of having two CPU's but for graphics I assume.

Dell XPS I would use more for rendering and also one of the best media processing machines *definition* 3DSMax, XLSoftimage, Photoshop, Game developement...... all that crap

you can't build a laptop, get it through your head. you can "build" one from manufactorers like dell, etc, but you can't build one like a desktop.

SLi is crap, no point to even think about getting it. Crossfire is better, but even that is a bad move. Any laptop with SLi will just have its battery raped.

SLi is two of the same graphics cards. They are not dual-core gpu's. They are single-core gpu's acting together as one.

Final note: Get an Acer. Best bang/$ + quality out of all laptop manufactorers. My brother has one, my friend has one, both are great.

With your high budget, wait for Intel 2 Duo Merom processors.
