Everything looks fine though change the motherboard everything is gonna be DDR2 soon DDR is going to be outdated and not be used anymore just get a different mobo with a DDR2 and your fine unless you want to stay with DDR Ram.
Thanks, I'll look into that. Edit: I've found one that's ~$30 more, but it's got 4x 240pin DDR2 slots instead of 4x 184pin DDR slots. Does that mean I'd have to change my RAM selection aswell? (I'm guessing 184pin RAM wouldn't fit into a 240pin slot..)
yeah but trust me DDR2 1 gig is like DDR 2 Gig is is very worth it! I go to Frys almost 3 times a week they have one mobo with DDR everything else is DDR2! hope this helped!
Yes it did, thank you very much, I appreciate it! Merged Post: When looking at RAM - what is Cas Latency and Timing? Merged Post: Sweet I pretty much just upgraded my computer and saved myself money! ^_^
Its nice stuff, but sound card isn't really neccessary. Also, know what you are doing, have someone that knows how to with you. Becuase trust me, everyon says it is simple as pie, but very first time, its not THAT easy (I just did mine 4 days ago). After your first build, its cake. But make sure you know what you are doing, and make sure if you don't, the reviews say there is a good manual =) The Cas Latency and Timings are the speed of the ram, usually the lower the number, the better, and faster the ram. Usually lower numbers of timings are used for overclocking, and used to get a quality overclock.
it already is out dated. get this motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16813131030 this processor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16819115004 this ram: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820231065 these hard drives 2x http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16822148144
Thanks, I've been inside a computer before (I took Computer Engineering last year) but I havn't actually built a computer from scratch before, so yeah I probably will have some one watching.. I just wanna actually build it myself for the satisfaction once it's done, yenno? And thanks for the Cas Latency and Timing info - still a tiny bit unclear on the Timing issue tho  . I've read about overclocking, but havn't actually tried it before. -rep.
For latencies on the RAM, it doesn't matter as much on Intel setups. Use wikipedia to learn more about what the latencies are.
Motherboard - Looking to stay away from Intel (Does look like a decent board tho ) Processor - Um, you just doubled my CPU budget, yo! Um, too much and as above, looking to stay away from Intel. I can see why some people would pay $300 for that chip tho. RAM - I don't see much of a difference, except a little bit of a price jump. (Maybe I'm missing something?) HDDs - Um, I think I like the idea of two smaller hard drives, I might look into this for $20 more,
Um yes, you are missing something. That RAM I have chosen has stuff they use to make DDR2-1000 with. Good overclocker, great RAM. You have a big budget, you can afford it. Cut back on the x1900xt, no point in that. The x1800xt is $200 and it will max out just as many games right now. Intel has the preformance edge in EVERY aspect of computing, don't be stupid and that fanboyism push you towards a stupid choice.
Thanks for editing that post, you came on a it strong with the first version. I updated the RAM (maybe you didn't see that) when I updated the Mobo, it's DDR2 800 now. Just a different brand name. I might cut down on the Video and I'll look more into Intel - just for you. Merged Post: Do you have anything to add to my build Computer Kid, I've seen you around and you seem to pick out nice parts.
