I like art because it can be expressed in so many other ways except drawing..people can see so many different things than other people looking at one pice of work..

i jsut got an email refering to this thread some ppl believe that we are using this as an excuse since according to them "we suck as designers" this is exactly the type of ---- im tlakinga bout who cares about someones opinion on our art, they dont know a thing about it
That is so true mate, so true. Someone puts a bunch of lines on some paper while completely wasted, and sells it. It doesnt matter how stupid the artist is, some rich whore will buy it without even looking for real art. This was also shown in the simpsons, when homer tries to build a barbeque, and being Homer, ruins it. Someone buys, Homer has an ART EXHIBIT. Good Game Also, AMEN TO THAT!
its sad seeing ppl follow conformity and do what everyone else does because they think that that is the "style" art is art there is not style, you might use the same idea (sprite,gurnge, ect) but ur not a "trend whore" just becuase you do it. you are doing it ebcause u like it and shouldnt get bashed for doing something that has been done before...
Yes, art is not a contest. That is so right. It also is not a race to see who can be the most popular (music these days seems to be all about that). Until people start expressing what they TRULY want to true music and art is seriously lacking. In my opinion it's lacking right now.
growing up in enviornment surronded by art (both my parents are architects and my brother does graffiti) i have learned to appreciate it but only certain types of art such as graffiti and computer art really stick out to me.
to me i dont care about who likes my sigs i make whether i use a tutorial or not. Art to me is an expression in time. Take my sig of the rx-8. I was at the moment thinkng of getting an rx-8 tune it and take it to california to race it on the streets, or even go to japan and see if people really do drift over there Art shouldn't be put head to head ,but should come from one's soul and emotions.
