Hello Metroid. Glad you like the gamerenders community... the graphic designers here are unbelieveable. I'm not sure myself how the GR Credits work yet, but I can tell you that rep is gained mostly by posting a good tutorial, render, or giving someone a good tip or answer to a question they asked.
Welcome Reps are the way we know how trustworthy someone is on GR. You need 150 posts to give them, and you get em usually for giving out free stuff like renders or tutorials, or being helpful in general. Credits are the currency here. You get one credit everytime you post in most sections of GR and you can use them to buy tuts, psd's and other things. Anyway, have fun. Hope I see you around.
