well, at last im gonna buy and build my new rig, budget up to £1000 for base unit, i would prefer to spend up to £800 if poss but i can spend up to my max if needed.....requirements.. dual core chip loads of ram uber gfx massive HD big monitor can any of you guys give me some help ??? i have been looking around and i find overclockers cheap and good, i know roughly what i want but there is just so many options, so any help ideas would be great....ohh btw i would like a totally funky case as well thnx then i can start playing CS:SOURCE cheerr=s in advance.
newegg.com is the cheapest place to go, im installing some ipb mods right now so i cant realy look, but for a gaming rig i dont recomend a large hard drive. 80-100gig should be fine, im working on a 15 gig comp right now and ive only filled up 75% in 6 years and it has loads of crap on it, on the other hand i have a new1 with a 250gig hard drive and ive put everything on it that i can and its only at 15% full, so large hard drives arnt necessary, but you can get what you want
He lives in the UK. Newegg doesn't help him. Look for (I'll get links later): Core 2 Duo E'6300 (processor) Asus P965 Northbridge (motherboard) 2x 1GB OCZ (or G.Skill) DDR2-800 (preferbly CL-4, but it doesnt matter much.) (RAM) Possibly ATi Radeon x1800xt (graphics card) Seagate Barracuda with PRM technology (any size you prefer) (hard drive) NEC CD/DVD R-RW (media drive) Preferbly an Antec case with a 500 Watt Truepower PSU (or Smartpower PSU) (Case&PSU) That shouldn't be too far over your budget, if at all. I'll have to hunt down with UK site has the cheapest prices on them.
thnx guys...a lot of help, i was thinking of 2 HD a smallish(maybe a raptor) for operating system and programs/games...and maybe a 300/400 gig for storage, this would be a good idea i think..??
Raptor is a waste of money. The barracudas with prm tech are close enough to the preformance and are like.. 1/5 the price? You could RAID a few barracudas in 0/1/5 and you will get good preformance.
www.aria.co.uk is a good site too. I got most of my parts for my most recent build off there (except my CPU, because it was out of stock, so I used overclockers). Aria is cheaper than overclockers, and I highly reccomend it.
A perfect place to build a PC cheeply is Carrera now taken over by Aries site is www.savastore.co.uk/aries Hope this helps. Gus
