Hi I recently thought about building my own computer for gaming because my laptop could never keep up. I even found what looks to be a pretty new guide on building one for around $500. But first I wanted to see if I could just improve my laptop and save myself money. And sadly before this i had never looked at the ram. 224 mb................................................................. So I know it's pretty easy to add memory to a desktop but what about to a laptop? And if I can could someone recommend a brand and tell me a price? Thanks in advance.
Yeah it's pretty easy. If you look at the bottom of your laptop you should see some panels that can be removed and that is where the ram will go. What kind of ram do you need? and how much ram do you want?
im not sure what kind i was gonn ask here first before i looked but im thinking about 512mb more should work.
Too much ram will make the processer not work as fast as it should. For gaming i seriously recommend you make/ buy a good computer and add internas to that, laptops arent made for gaming
I would suggest to go to the manufactureres website and look at the specs of what compatible memory you could use on your laptop. Also, check to see what's the max capacity of memory your laptop could take. Some older laptops can't have more than a Gig of memory. I've seen older laptops that can't take more than 512MB of memory. Check that out first before purchasing or installing more memory.
my god, don't speak of things you dont know. you cant have too much ram. you can have more ram then any person would need (not in a laptop), but you cant have too much. If your laptop has 224mb ram, it means you're running integrated graphics (because RAM comes in increments of squares of 2. you can not put anything to the power of 2 and get 224. It would be 256mb. You have 224mb ram because the integrated graphics is using 32MB of it.) With all that said, nothing you can do to that laptop will make it be able to play any of today's games. You're better off building a whole new computer, no point in investing in a lost hope.
