Some programs you can just change and ask to start it up when windows loads.

Drag the program to into the Startup folder by going to Start>All Programs>Startup? I did that for my onscreen dock and desktop calendar and it worked. ^_^

Why you want to make a rigistery key? Just put it in your starting folder. Windows button > Programs > and then there's a folder what windows should automatic load it.

go to Start -> Run -> type in Regedit -> Then navigate yourself to here:
    hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run

If it were a virus why would be want it to start up everytime he starts up?

My guess is its a proxt program or something he wants to start up automatically instead of manually everytime.

Okay, like Jon said, go to:

Then when you are in there just right click and add a new string value. After you do that you enter the process you want to start. Then you should have it boot. If this doesn't work, just post in here again.

(REMEMBER it MUST be directed correctly... C:\Program Files\User\---- )
