recently on my laptop, when i start up, the computer says there was an error when last shut down and then gives options on starting normally/sfae mode/last know confguration etc etc.

When i selected last know configuration, the computer starts and gets to the windows loading, (black screen), but just keeps going around ad then repeating this many times, i waited half an hour once and same prob

i toook it to the comp shop an they said it would cost £90 to get BIOS reset, because it takes 2 hours, and some of my friends say you could do it easily in like 30mins for free with a programe.

Could someone please help me get this ixed, because i have very important documents on there which need to be printed ASAP.

So if someone could briefly explain wat is the probleme ,and more importantly how to get it fixed. Thank you very much

I will pay you 200 creds if you give me a way of solving this.

I need it to be free, forst of all.

plzzzzzzzzzzzzzz help me get it fixed, i need 2 get the whole BIOs fixed firsytly so i can get on it and use it, But more importantly there is a file on ther which i very despiratly need.

If you or anyone knows of a way of getting the file onto my other pc, via usb/email/floppy i will still pay you 200 creds+bonus!!

this needs to be done asap.

Note: when i put in the windows CD, it does not pick it up and does not let me boot form it.

SO if soeoen know how i can get the file, please tell me. Thanks alot

    kk cool thnx.

Also when i went 2 the shop again a few mins ago,.

they said that they can 'back up' the data, which for my 4gig HD will cost £97 (wtf), if there is a way i can just do that and get the data and for now temporarly leave re-setting bios then i would prefer that way :) ty

yea, i would do that, but prob is that, as i mentioned in 1st post, WHen i turn on my laptop it starts with that error about sytarting windows with last know config/safe/normal etc etc the ussuall option, u would have seen this before, then it takes to the black screen where windows loads with the windows logo and then after like 5mins it does this agian and goes back 2 the original erro screena dn then when i choos the normal option it does it agina and again.

BUt the shop said that they would cost £97 to back the data up, how would i back the data without phyisically being on there??? if the laptop turned on then i could do it, but other than that i cant.

when my desktop(im on a laptop) did that i ran system recovery when the compaq screen comes up press f10 that might sork long enough for u to get the file but it will take a few minutes to do it you will get an option of whether to keep the files or completely start over so click keep files that might work

well without physically being on there u coul;d open upo the laptop and take out the memory chip and transfer it to the desktop if u memory card is capable of doing that

ok, this is what you should note.

Everything from that shop is overpriced BS.

resetting bios does not even take 30 seconds if you know what to do...

press 'del' on starup, this should open BIOS on most systems(though I've seens systems which use the f keys and escape)

then select either "load failsafe defaults" or "load optimized defaults"
press f10 or go to save changes and exit. Viola, BIOS is reset.

if they meant flashing BIOS,then you might be slightly screwed, You'de have to find out the make of your motherboard

also, try starting is "safe mode" just press f8 on startup until the option appears and see if you get anywhere with that.

There is nothing wrong with his bios, i have no clue what bull---- the people at the store were trying to pull on you. This is an issue with Windows.

If you have your Windows disk, put it into the drive (make sure you have the CD/DVD Drive as Priority 1 on the boot list.) After it's done loading all the drivers etc, and it gives you a page with three selections, press 'r' (at least i think it's that. Either way, choose the System Repair solution. NO, it is not system restore, trust me.) Gets a bit complicated past this, but if it asks you anything, and you know the answer, fill it out. After you don't know anymore, try restarting, and see what happens. I'll have to go try System Repair again myself to find out more.
