Yea I was just wondering when PCs that run on Windows Vista are gonna be available, if anyone knows.. cuz my PC sux and I wanna get a laptop, but I wanna wait til Windows Vista comes out.. Also, I was on dell.com lookin at their laptops, and they have some that are like upgradeable to Windows Vista.. I was just wondering if anyone knew how much it would be to do that upgrade ty
windows vista is going to be expensive becuase its asking for a alot of a computer my computer wont even be able to upgrade becuase id have to get new ram and graphics card
Any computer that isnt too old it technicly upgradable to Vista. There is nothing special about Dell's computers that make them be upgradable to Vista and mine not be able to. Anyway, you don't want to get Vista when it first comes out. Give it 4-9 months or so for it to fix all of its bugs/security holes. For a laptop to be able to handle Vista, make sure it has a deticated Video Card, at LEAST 1 GB RAM, and a Core Duo (or Core 2 Duo when they come out). You can go ahead and buy a laptop now, and it will be able to run Vista just fine (assuming it has the featutes I mentioned above.)
I would have to buy a new comp since the specs so far for vista don't match mine -_-Windows XP is good enough for me.
My comp runs Vista currently fairly well, and its showing its age. I currently have: AMD 2700+ 9800pro 1.5gb Ram
Windows Vista will run fine if you have at least this: * A modern processor (at least 800MHz1). * 512 MB of system memory. * A graphics processor that is DirectX 9 capable. For better performance: * 1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor1. * 1 GB of system memory. * A graphics processor that runs Windows Aero2. * 128 MB of graphics memory. * 40 GB of hard drive capacity with 15 GB free space. * DVD-ROM Drive3. * Audio output capability. * Internet access capability. Does it run the AquaGraphics or w/e it's special gui is suposed to have? and a correction in what i said above, it doesnt nessecary need a core duo, or core 2 duo. a pentium m would run it fine, and same with an turion. but a deticated and at least 1 gb ram still stands.
Alright, I'm to lazy to look into this but what exactly is special about Vista and why does it need system specs that high?
Because it uses an advanced GUI, which would mean it needs more advanced components. It also uses a lot of resources, which means that you need a cpu that can handle it and a lot of RAM.
windows vista ready pc's are out already theres a section about them on MicroSoft, they have to be pretty powerful PCs which means expensive
As a little tidbit of info, you'll start seeing two new labels of computers. Windows Vista Ready And WIndows Vista Premium Ready means it can ihandle Vista, while premium means it will run it very well.
