Need Help

ok i just got my hand on this computer from my moms bf he was throwing it out now its mine

he took it to best buy cuz he thinks lighting hit it and the geeks said the mobo is bad. is it this is what it does it will boot up get to the Mobo screen then shut down
anywayz im looking to up it to a decent gaming rig

as u can see he ripped everything out so im needing ram which i should get monday from a friend to see it will boot and not shut down if it does i think the mobo is bad but processor is good if the processor is bad well im throwing it out so i need to know what u think its a year old computer maybe 2

stuff i have now
PSU which i just put in it in pic's 250W
AMD 2800+ XP 2.08GHz
and i have a 9250 ATi GFX card
and a 5200 Nvidia card which is going in it more then likely


my max spending limit is 100 bucks maybe 20 more but thats it

i know it wont be much but i might sell it to my bro for a like 200 or somthing bucks maybe as a gift or something dontknow yet


ok if the mobo is bad i need to know what what mobo to get post from newegg plz

and make me a list of stuff that i should get to up it and make it working

Does it show anything when it boots up? At all.

If you tried booting it without the RAM, then that was stupid. You need RAM in it to boot.

 

ya i know i aint dumb im awaiting ram for it my moms bf ripped it out

best buy said that the mobo was bad this is what it did it boots up go s to the bios screen (the manufarcher ex HP) the shuts down

 

I have a hard time believing that a computer would start and show the BIOS, and still naming the problem 'a screwed motherboard'.

Ckeck your clampings on the HS&F if you havent already, and look at the fan when you turn it on to make sure it's spinning. Maybe while your mom's bf was 'ripping' out the RAM, he messed up something else.

 

it boots up says HP then shuts down thats it i havent tested it yet to see if it really does it

 

Hmm you sure everything you got is compatible?

 

Everything in it right now is stock. If you like.. i dunno, read the entire topic, you might know.

 

every thing i have is the processor and the mobo and the PSU + i have a 20gig hard drive to throw in it for im just wanting to know if it sounds like the mobo is bad
