    Hi,

Since this morning my pc won't start. It gets until the Windows bootscreen and then it just restarts, i've tried resetting etc. a couple of times, waited some time but it just doesn't work.

Anyone got an idea how to fix it?

erm formatting seems like the best option but try transfering your clean hdd into that pc to see if its working ok, if it boots fine, reformat, but if it doesn't you may need a new mobo

Download a Operating System called Slax or Knoppix. They are LiveOS's (you put it on a cd, and they run off that, no installing.) Do this to see if it's your hardware that is overheating (maybe your heatsink came loose, etc, doubt it, but might as well check) and to see if its a Windows problem... corrupt files, etc. You can run virus checks, stuff like that in the Live OS's.

Caution: It's hard to get networking on these. There are a few steps that you have to do, but if you need something off the internet for help, just get it off your 2nd computer and then transfer.

If you are infected; any trojans, spyware, etc. you may have picked up could have been saved and can possibly reinfect you. Since the System Restore is a protected directory your tools can not access it to delete files that can trap viruses and other applications inside.Soi highly dont recomend doing a system restore just in case its a virus or annything bad.

Also, try putting your Windows XP disk in, and let it load. Then when it gives you a choices (first menu), choose System Repair.

sounds like a virus, the one that keeps rebooting your system whenever it goes to the startup screen. Not sure which one though.

Yes use the cd first, if nothing will work, then format your PC and reinstall everthing. ;)
