I was just wondering on the windows guest account that can be turned on, what facilities can the user use, my brother needs to use the comp sometimes, i dont want him on my account and dont want to set up a limited account on my pc especially for him so i just wanted to know can the guest account still get on the internet, still be firewalled/antivirus stuff on it, able to use msn or he will complain and other basic things like having the office suite on it and stuff for homework etc.

Also what is it unable to do?

you can set it limits by going to user accounts in control panel. You should be able to give him normal rights and he can do wahtever he wants except get into your files. Test it out by logging on as guest and see what he can see, if you need to chane his rights, do so and test it before you give him the account.

Ahh also can i choose to lock him out of the control panel? ive heard you can do, that may be nothing to do with this but ive heard you can lock out the control panel all together with a password, that would also be handy if it cant be blocked this way.

I shall try it out sometime tonight hopefully.

I just turned it on and yes it says i cant get into this that and the other but is there a way where i can set exactly what he can use and cant use (anything that can be tampered with he will do is why im so bothered)

Just been on the guest account and i dont think he can mess with that much in the control panel, my only query was that the firewall icon didn't come up at all and when i found the program to start it nothing happened, just wanted to know if the firewall gets turned off or if the firewall is on but the guest can't see it's on or anything.

Limited accounts can't even remove programs and when you make his account there is an option that says if you want him to be able to see your files. I let my little brother use the guest account though... everything should work.

    Snipe. ;)
