Ok, I've been building computers for local businesses (Remax, my high school... ect...) for about 2 years now, and I want to know if I can build or buy a webserver, and if so, what do I need?

    Thx in advance! :)

Are you planning to host this yourself? If I were to build a server I would use either Opteron or Xeon processors. I made one with just an old P4 HT processor in it with 1GB of memory. I would also check eBay for any old servers that people are willing to part with. Or may I suggest a webhosting site called 1and1, here's the link: http://www.1and1.com. Goodluck.

I'm just looking for a better understanding of what I need to do to host my own site with my own server. I already have hosting with godaddy.com.
And yes, I am planning to host this myself.

If you buy a server, like your own actual one, how in the hell could you use it for hosting with godaddy.com? just think, ya know? To buy your own server and have it running your webserver, you would need it to run locally off your connection (or whoever's.) This is bad, probably because your bandwidth isn't suited for this kind of traffic (saying that this website brings in a lot of people.) If you buy your own server, and everything, the best thing would be to find the nearest Web Hosting Factory near you, and see if they allow dockage. You leave your computer there, and you pay for bandwidth per month. It's just like having a Deticated Server, except it's your computer.
