Wow, um guys, you don't know much about what you're talking about. msmsgs.exe is the Windows Messenger Service (Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services). I don't know about it carrying viruses. I know it many for being able to use "net send" commands, because you need this service Started for that to work. Otherwise, there is really no point in having it on. It's really your deicision, but practicly useless most of the time. btw, msnmsger.exe is MSN Messenger.
yep i read it was windows messengers..you said it would shutdown net send commands would that in turn disable my ability to play online games????or can you explain net send commands
naw, you dont need this service for games or anything practical for that matter. net send is a command in Command Prompt that lets you send a messege to all the computers on your network... bearing in mind that they must also have the Messenger Service activated also. google it, you'll see more of what I mean.
If anyone was interested in this thread about how to turn off msmsgs.exe the link i provided in the begining doesnt work for although ive read it works for some...but any way this is way easier....Link: http://www.neuber.com/taskmanager/process/msmsgs.exe.html (6th post from bottom is the command) you can read through all if you like but this took it off my pc for good....free memory on start up is worth it...read up if interested...
