Makin A Backup Need Help!

    Title says it all i need help makin a backup of my comp i just formatted it an now im tryin to make backup of the whole computer.anyone know i program that i need to make a backup? An how to actually make a backup.

    I recently just did a backup of my whole pc :) just did what xelink and saved it to a old HDD

    that doesnt always work though...

    what i would do is go through your WHOLE computer and save everything that you want to save on disk... i mean, start in c drive and go through every file and folder (exept windows folder).

    ohh, backup is just for system files, takes too much effort to back EVERYTHING

    just swap the system files to the HDD uncompressed, formatted etc.

    no a partitioning program or anotehr harddrive.

    make the backup save it to another partition, save your important files there as well independant of the backup.

    your saying to save it to another HDD and a partition... going to another HDD would need ghosting software. another partition really wouldent do anything...

    going to another partition doesn't require any second party software if it is allready there.

    and yes another partition does do something because when you reformat or restore the OS partition the second one is not affected.


    also, my way is free..

    but that would take the whole point out of it if hees gonna reformat... it would keep all the same files and really hees back where he started...

    a raid array, and RAID1 is cheaper to implement than raid 5.
