Well My PC has been running 512 mB of RAM dual channel (two 256 MB cards) and I bought 1 GB of paired dual channel PC3200 DDR400 RAM from newegg (its corsair RAM) and for some reason when i took out my old ram and put those in they run in single channel.

Right now I have all the RAM in (1.5 GB overall running single channel) but i think it would be better if i could get the 1 GB running dual channel, can someone help me. I have a i4600 MOBO i believe

you can not, i believe, run dual + dual ram.

    either 2 x 256 OR 2 x 512, not both...

if I'm not mistaken, you should be able to. Set it to 2T and on a divider(assuming a k8 system) and see if that does anything. Also check the motherboard, boards can also be responcible not just the IMC. Also test the 1GB kit itself in specific, see if it is that set.
