Dodge Tool/burn Tool

They don't work when I use them. I am using them on a layer with data and nothing happens. I was using them to touch up a gradient but it won't work. Any ideas?

I don't think dodge/burn works on gradient layer, but I may be wrong.

 

Did you apply the gradient with layer styles menu?
If so, it'll not work.

 

Yeah you're right Kante. I grouped into smart object then rasterized it and it works fine now. Cheers.
