    Okay, so I'm trying to get a dedicated server going and I have it all set up but the problem is that no one can join it. I'm pretty sure its my router that is blocking people from joining it so does anyone know how to fix this? I tried turning off my firewall but that did still not work.

    I'm at my friends house and posted on his account by accident:

    Umm... I dunno cuz then I'd have to unhook alot of cables and stuff. Isn't there a way to disable something on my router? Some kind of setting?
    By the way I have a linksys router.

    make sure its not a lan connection, cause then no1 would be able to join, and if i were you, just try a couple things

    dont use the router, to test if its ur router thats causing it (directly connect)
    disable your fire wall

    Exactly what model of Linksys router are you using?

    Model BEFS41

    Also, for my internet connection, it says "LAN or High Speed Internet"
    So if my connection is a LAN, then no one can join?

    THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

    This is the key to my problem, I needed the ports for steam and now I got em.

    Oh yeah, some routers (----ty ones like mine :P) can't portforward CS so that may be a problem oO;

    i didn't read all the posts so i dunno fi yuor problems been solved, anyways if your starting a dedicated server on your home pc and you are also gonna use it for other things then its pointless because youll get 3 people in there and it will lagg like hell, you need a HUGE internet connection to start up yiour own server, either buy a server or buy a new computer with its own internet that has a ginormous upload and ownloa speed. About people connecting its probibly something to do with your router. All routers are different do you know whichh router you ae using?

    The router bit has been answered above, what internet connection are you using and is it on the same connection as your home computers and what ever else is coming off that router.
