Is Downloading Torrents Illegal?

If the torrent is used to get an illegal file, then it's illegal. If the torrent is used to aquire software/file/whatever that is free/open source and allowed to be freely downloaded, then it's legal.

ok, downloading torrents IS NOT ILLEGAL. Torrents are just a different type of files. Now , the stuff you get from torrents (must times) is copyrighted , thats whats illegal

Torrent files are not illegal, the copywrighted material is, unless you live in like Canada lol.

 

A torrent is not illegal, several linux distros are on torrents, to allow faster speeds.

the file(s) you get from the toorent determines rather if it is illegal or not.

 

Its not a matter of whether the file your downloading is legal (as most programs/movies/whatever are legal) its if they are copyrighted works or intelectual property that you dont have the rights to.

 

its only illegal when ur dl'ing something thats copywrited
