ive decided since im settling down in my new home i might as well buy a good desktop i need some ideas

What would you be using the desktop for exactly? Gaming maybe?

 

I'd wait for the Conroes.. should be coming next month

For $7000, you can get ALOT of stuff, just wait 'till the conroe's are out. I can already preorder one in my country here, so they should be there soon

 

Keep saving for a few more years then buy a mainframe

like most, I willl say to wait for conroe if at all possible.

unlike most, I'll say that you might be in the market for a mid-highend workstation. look for a board which supports 4 Kentsfield processors, fill up half of those sockets, toss in two 7950GX2s, one of those 1000W PC Power & Cooling PSUs... they're insanely expensive but good.

I wouldnt say so, if you have the money for it i say why not, i know when im older ill end up spending an insane amount of money on a new rig.
