How To Make a Shutdown Timer! Step 1. Right Click on your desktop and choose "New->Shortcut". Step 2. In the box that says "Type the location of the shortcut", type in "shutdown -s -t 3600" with out the quotation marks and click next. Note: 3600 are the amount of seconds before your computer shuts down. So, 60secs*60mins=3600secs. Step 3. Make up a name for the shortcut and you're done. You can change the icon by right clicking->properities->change icon-> browse. More Info:- To make an abort key to stop the shutdown timer just create another shortcut and make the "location of the shortcut" to "shutdown -a" without the quotes.
surprised you dont know more about batch programming xelink... go cmd prompt... type 'cd C:\', that willl get to root drive then type 'shutdown /?' and you can see all the shutdown commands. there isnt one for standby tho.
1) I don't think putting in the wrong batch command will mess up your system. 2) Making a shutdown timer is not really useful unless of course you want it to shutdown after a certain amount of time... Batch programming in itself can be useful (especially at a school )
ohh I've heard of it, I've just never bothered with it, I saw no need as school more or less let you do w/e the ---- we wanted given that you had access to an administrative account... I neither confirm nor deny that I made myself one.
It is xelink, just his temporary account. Nice find, this would be cool to use on my school Sometimes our printer doesnt work and we have to ask the local admin to print it on an other one and he works on the server, which manages all the computers in the room, so if the server is off the pcs will also shutdown. So if I would give him this file (he is not that smart) and run it, our complete network would be off till the server is restarted
It is xelink... how gulible... you actually believed his sig? Merged Post: and Devastation... all school tech guys are the same... stupid at computers and do nothing...
