Ok, this might be of the few, but people are leaving GR because of the server overloads, hacks, and 10 million other problems...

Frankly, it all started after Llama left... Get more Mods/Admins in here, or we'll see many other people leaving as well...

I've seen quite a few of my most trusted friends leave GR, some before Llama left, but they had bigger and better things to do..

So, either shape up, or drop down your pants and admit you are not doing a very good job...

**This is my opinion, no one can buy it, sell it, or take it away from me**

First off..more admins/mods will not stop the cracking attempts. They will still be there. In fact, they will be there regardless of who is in charge, or who is running what. Its an unavoidable thing, blaming it on the staff, well, thats stupid, seeing as how we cant go to these people and say hey, stop trying to crack the accounts.

Thats why there is so many lockouts...is because we have taken the measures needed to stop the account cracking. Would you prefer us to take the lockouts away so that you can have your account cracked? I would think not.

As far as the server overloads. You dont see everything that goes on behind the scene, so you have no idea what measures are being taken to adjust that. Shaggy has removed a massive amount of old user accounts to help clean up the database a bit. As well as having already dished out quite a bit of money for the server. Hes also looking into having a server guy assist in server optimization. If he where to dish out more money at this point, do you realize it would cost 800 dollars, yes an extra 800 dollars for just one upgrade? Now if everyone would like to donate more to do so, great, but I dont see that happening.

10 million other problems? Be more specific, or are you being over dramatic in an attempt to try and get your point across? There is a few small problems yes, some of which we can control and are working on, as pointed out above, others which we have taken the measures to fix as far as humanly possible.

*edit* Decided to leave it open instead...but if I see flaming, etc, it will be closed down.

Logic basically hit everything right on the head. Yes there are issues but we can't keep this site running smoothly and entirely clean. I think the fact that we see a ton of locked accounts is because people know we have a new owner, people know that a time like this is when the site is most vulnerable so they take that oppurtunity to strike and attack. You can't place the blame on the staff here for the actions of a group of morons that nobody can just go up to and say stop because it's not right.

People are going to be malicious reguardless of what you do, they will always find a way around it no matter what. As for those leaving, that's their choice. The community as a whole has gone downhill due to immaturity within the members and everything, that's another thing the staff can't help. We can't expect them to screen every member for tendancies to be a dick/douche.

Next time you decide to post a topic like this, come up with more than two reasons before you throw that exaggeration about 10 million other problems. On top of that, you can back your claims up with reasons and crap instead of just saying "this is whats wrong, now fix it or things will get worse."

Having my account locked out is not a problem for me, as it is many others. Seriously, I dont care about credits, you can have them all, I wouldn't care.

I just help in the computing section. When I can't do that, I go elsewhere until the board gets up to whack.

and atm, i can't think of any other problems, i have too much other shyt to worry about...

It's just that I have seen a few people on GR here, that could literally host GR...

I doubt the people here on GR could host it. I dont think you fully comprehend exactly what it takes to run a server that can support a community this large.

Its not something you can just run outta your house for something really cheap. It takes alot of money to run quite a large server, and a real hosting company none the less.

Our data transfer rate per month is probably through the roof with the amount of data this site transfers, that alone is costly and can overload a decent server, thus costing even more money a monthly basis.

But im not a server expert, so im not gonna go spouting off a bunch of stats that I would be pulling outta mid air...but I do know that there is not alot of people, if anyone, that could truely host GR like you say, here on the forum.

well, logic, while that is true, most people I know get hosting from datacenters and such..

Well, maybe I don't know all you know, Logic, but I got a good idea, and if I ever get to be a millionaire, I'll host GR for free...

Well, as much as I agree with both sides I say everyone has a point here. I think the Admin that is here is doing a good job, but as we all must agree, he needs some help. I say that he needs more help indeed. Why? He is one person with a job made for atleast three (3). Because there are all these mods who havn't been on I say replace them. Just tell them, "No hard feelings but we must demote you because it's been apparent you havn't been logging on too much." I know I am just one of the many "Donators" on this site but I feel I must have a pretty strong word. I donated for myself and I donated for xMasterx's account. So, let me be heard, please. I would really like to see some more, yes, more! mods come in to play. I would like to see some really trusted person become an Admin or something, and I would like for more activity in the staff. Meh, I live in America, and when we do it around here, the "people" get the say... so if you wouldn't mind stop saying the same thing over and over, "He is only one guy, he can only do so much." I agree. I must say, I wouldn't want to be in his possition, not as one man with such a big job (him as in Shaggy). So, if you wouldn't mind for one second taking into concideration what you are telling me and then telling yourself the same thing, "Maybe Shaggy needs more help than he thinks he does." Suggest to him that he could pick two more of his most trustworthy assistants (GMods) and then promote them to Admin to help him in this time of hacking and forum tragesty. How about getting, not a ton more, but a bit more mods and Sectionals just to help clean things out. You know, like some of the helpfuls in Computing section, some of the helpfuls in Offers and requests for bumping and wishing luck, etc. I would not like to see this forum go down, as many others would not but, I am also going to stop denying there is something that is going to have to be done about this place finally.

Note: Shaggy is doing a good job. I talked to Shaggy today and he seems really nice. I just think he needs a bit of help, that's all.

Well, when you become a millioniare Master, then you can host GR, but it wont ever happen, so instead of complaining all the time, which by the way, isnt that the only time you come into the irc chat, is to complain that the site is down? Try taking an active part in all aspects of the community, including the chat that you utilize only when something is wrong.

I've said it a thousand times, and I will say it again, it is the community that makes up whether or not this is a fun place to be, we are just here to enforce the rules and what not and keep everything running as smoothly as we can.

As for AKW. We have quite a few active global mods, and to be perfectly honest, we dont need more. Some of us are on the forums damn near 24/7, whether you see it or not if you go through all the fourms, you will see lots of edited posts that where breaking rules, closed threads, moved threads, etc etc. We are in fact, well on top of things. Even more so now that the mods that had to step out due to real life are coming back in action.

As well, we also have our sectional mods, who moderate over some of the other forums, so that adds even more coverage. Not to mention the tutorial mods and the render mods, and the irc mods....wow, thats alot of mods. And you know what, once again, if you look through all the forums, you will see that yes, things are well covered.

Why do you feel we need to add more mods when everything is already being taken care of? We are well on top of complaints, rep abuse, scam problems etc. So I fail to see where we need more mods at?

As far as needing another admin. No, not really, as I mentioned in a previous post, Shaggy is working on getting the global moderators limited acp access, so that we can do even more on the site then before. That means we will be able to handle credit tracing, etc on our own.

Its not that we need another admin, any good business owner knows that its all about how well you micromanage your employees. Shaggy has plenty of global mods, sectional mods, and other mods that are more then on top of things at this point. And will be even more on top of things once we have ACP access...so really, there is no need for more staff to be added.

Well, as for the moderators go, I see the mods, yes... but I also see some of them that havn't been on in ages.

That's fine, I got your point on the mod things I suppose and I reallize there is the thing where you can log into the forum hidden. So, now that we have this settled, we can talk about that ACP. I failed to read your first post, it didn't partain to me and I didn't feel the need to read you bitching (give or take) at xMasterx. So, excuse my ignorance of that subject.

It does sound like a good idea that he is comming up with "Giving partial access to the ACP for some mod." I didn't know he was doing that. It makes me feel better. But, untill then what are we going to do? Are we going to do the same ol' thing, just set here and wait for Shaggy, and by no means am I trying to be mean, for sometimes and seemingly days? I wouldn't think that any "buisness" would be handled that way. Even the manager of a big company has to emprovize sometimes. So, untill then how about atleast... well... wait.. since you keep replying... how about you get some admin powers till it gets resolved and you can trace ----?

umm, before, yes.. now, no. I only come on IRC during downtimes to check that it is happening to other people, not just me. I joke and play around on IRC, maybe you just don't see me on there very often.

What does a person do when he/she is not a gamer, and not very keen on gfx, what else is there besides Computing and General Chat?
