Okay, im deciding on getting a new computer...

This will be for gaming/graphics/general usage...

price between $2000 and $2500 (make it $2000, but have upgrades available for up to $2500). The choice im having to make is buy a lower end intel processor for now and buy a conroe next month, or buy a high end amd processor.

If you are up for making a build try to make either a high end AMD computer (capable of switching to future processors, aka using a am2 slot more than likely) or a low end intel setup for now (keeping in mind $2000-2500 for the low end processor and the future conroe).

I havnt decided personally on which one i want, the intel conroe setup or the high end amd setup, so showing me both examples will help me choose as to which i get...

No software is needed, monitor/keyboard/mouse IS needed (monitor must be able to support a 1280x1024 resolution), I am having you guys select them so that they resemble the case atleast a little bit. 2BB memory preferred, 250+ gb storage atleast, preferably a 10K rpm 36 gb for my HD and games/main programs and the rest for file storage, needs a floppy drive (i know, old school) and 2 (yes, 2) dvd rw s, and a flash card reader (for camera memory cards, etc.)

I am NOT going to be OCing until warrantees expire (if then).

Anyone care to help? Oh, and I am in the US, so newegg works...

Note - NO cases with neon lighting. I want good ventilation, sturdy, etc. just no neon lighting...

for the money, this i what I'd do.

PD 805 or low end celeron just to get you by. don't f with the 920 or 930 they cost almost twie as much and this i just temporrry. sell off the rpoc after $50-130

one of the boards metoned here... i'm nto too framilliar with cornoe boards, but i know they require the 975 chipset.

    unsure of cost

x1800XT $220-240 compareable tothe 790GT in performance at stock OCs very well, cheaper

2GB DDR800sd ram, makes OCing that much easier...
    $50-200

250GB cavier, for the cost, it's pertty goood, two should come close to or outdo a raptor at cheaper but 1 is fast enough, i kinda regrt not getting one insteed of my raptor.

PSU we'll see enermax, antec, tagan somthing along those lines.

for the record, I have an opteron 165 @ 2.6GHZ it could esily hit 3 if I pushed it(I'm a HS kid working a min wage job more or less so don't want to risk it yet it's very good, but coonroe will smoke it, i feal kinda well sad...

"2) 965X boards, available for sale soon, will all be Conroe compatable. These are being designed to support Conroe from release. They will most likely arrive in market before comparable 975X boards and well before Conroe is available to the public."
