5:27am, sitting here at my desk and sure enough, the ground goes rolling by underneath me. Interesting feeling. Normally here in California we get the ones that shake you back and forth, but this one just kinda rolled. Only a 2.9, but it was only 2 miles below the surface, so it was felt fairly strong. Obviously no damage, just a momentary pause when one has to ask themself...is this going to go on and get stronger, and if so, do I need to get up and hit a safer spot, or am I cool to continue sit here and browsing the net. Update! First reading was wrong, not a 2.9, but a 4.7 quake. Thats the kind that knocks stuff off shelves/walls, etc.
ive never felt earthquake, i live in the UK and we dont get any here. Im sure there not woohoo its a earthquake cause of the destruction and mess they could cause but at sometime i would like to experience one
Their a bit scary the very first time. You live in an area like I do though, and you get used to them. Though this is bigger then they normally are, normally we dont even feel them, but this one was felt pretty strongly because it was only 2 miles below the surface.
Well I tell ya what...the feelings that go through you when you experience a real one are quite different.
lol Plus you dont see Oil tankers fly through the ground above you when you are sitting on the subway and water all surrounding you at the same time, every earthquake lol
Wow interesting, they say Cali is going to break off soon and become an island, thats going to be scary as hell.
I never felt one before, but I hope I never do. I guess some people feel it as a joy ride, like when Hurricanes hit, they go surfing -_-
Cali isnt going to break off and become an island, thats just some dumb rumor. However what will happen is that slowly the land is moving north...so little by little California moves closer to places like Washington.
That happens all the time in Michigan. And yes some people believe that The San Andreas fault is goin to break off or somethin like that... but not for Millions of years
