Ok, so most people do it for the features. But really, Ps3 will maintain or even expand their sales just because of the features. People will look at a Wii a 360 and a Ps3. And some guy who is going to buy a game console for the first time will look at the Ps3 and see an Xbox360 with more options at a very interesting price for all the stuff he will be getting. This guy we are talking about is going to be a casual gamer and will problably not really like the Wii because of the contrast in price and mentioned features. The Xbox fanbase will probably not increase because all Ps3 fans agree Ps3 is better. Come on.. every casual guy will be like "and omg it has blue-ray" (yeah it's blu). So assuming everyone that owned a Ps2 will be getting a Ps3 (at launch or after pricedrop(s)). Same for Xbox and Wii. And this guy who is new to console gaming and wanted one after watching friends play or reading magazines or whatever is going to get a Wii ? Very unlikely.
Did you not read my post? 1 out of 5 people are considering Blu-Ray and HD-DVD. And I doubt the casual gamer as an inkling what a blu-ray player is, let alone be willing to shell out $600 for one. It isn't a popular media format, is untested, and is being forced onto PS3s because Sony hope it will catch on so they can rake in the money. I'm just having a hard time figuring out why you'd be willing to shell out $600 for a media player that hasn't caught on anywhere. LMAO
ps3 isnt that great. Just some better hardware for and insanly high price...(newsflash guys, graphics aren't everything when it comes to gaming. And even if you do think graphics are everything, try getting a better computer, much better in the long run) Yeah ill stick to my 360 and Wii
According to polls Kate Ryan was going to win Eurovision. If you live in Europe you should now understand how useless such a poll is. If this had applied to DVD somewhere 6 years ago, it would have failed. But all people who knew absolutely nothing about computers or the size of softwhere were like "And deeveedee can hold like 5 gigabaits and has better quality and stuff so I'm gonna get me some player like that, and the Sony Playstation 2 will also play them and stuff"
no one cares about multimedia in consoles, well i dont. I didnt by my gamecube, xbox or my ps2 to play dvd's or mp3s. I rate consoles on the gaming experience not on what other media they can play.
Erm dunno if you know about this but I def won't be getting PS3 anytime soon when it is released lol:
My poll wasn't for Kate Ryan, so I don't understand how useless such a poll is. The PS2 was a great console for playing DVDs too, but see, it only cost you $300, which was not only a bargain for a DVD player, but also a reasonable price for a gaming console as well, so it wasn't that big of a deal. Also, DVD was a huge upgrade from VHS, so it was an understandable change. The Blu-Ray disc isn't that big of an upgrade, and will be used for primarily for extra features. And I'm sure that most people aren't willing to spend $600 on a gaming console.
I agree with you...but if sony manage to pull this off it'll be a really good console. And i've found the idea of banning pre-owned games shocking.
I can't wait for the ps3 to come out, I just hope the price on it will drop. I think it'll blow the Nintendo WII and the Xbox 360 away no doubt about it.
And the media they play influences the quality and potential size or features of games so I'd think you would at least care about the media they use.
